Little spicy. Good beer but the Brune d’achouffe is better. 8% alcool well hidden. lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 1, 2005 Picked up a bomber in a Metro grocery store in Quebec City, 7/2005.
Pours a hazy pale orange, frothy and lacy ivory head. Smells of spicy apples and citrus.
Tastes of spicy clove and black pepper. Fruity malt, green apple and white raisin. Nice dry finish. Mouth is crisp and dry with a lingering spiciness. It’s smooth, sneaky smooth and would be truly easy to knock off 2 or 3 bombers with ease.
Not as tasty as the original La Chouffe but not to be missed if you can lay your hands on it. A must for me whenever I find myself in Quebec. JPDIPSO (4929), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 29, 2005 Hazy golden liquid with a big bubbled white head. Lightly toasted bread with some marmalade in the aroma. Some lesser players of dry yeast, wild flowers and spices of coriander and white pepper. Light slick feel. Sweeter flavors with pears, oranges, key lime and mild yeast. A touch too sweet for me, but a well brewed beer. Thanks Beerbuzzmontreal. Volgon (2490), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 18, 2005 Cloudy bubbling beer with a pineapple yellow colour and a small fizzy head. I had this beer on my honeymoon and I have a picture of my wife on the dock of our honeymoon cottage in a bikini holding a goblet of this fine brew. This gives it an even greater appearance mark. The nose was fresh and yeasty with cloves, banana and a vibrant spicines. Yes...vibrant is a great way to describe the nose on this one. The fantastic nose moves into a even greater body. A very nice mouthfeel and a good firm maltiness which provides an excellent semi-sweet backbone. A nice hop bitterness pervades the middle and is rounded out by a firm, yet backgroudish yeastiness. I found this beer to be a top notch belgian-style blonde strong ale. Yumm! pintbypint (1013), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Coriander and oranges in the aroma. Spicy, citrus flavours, sweetness fades out to a light alcoholic note. blankboy (3239), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 17, 2005 Draught at BarVolo. Pours a cloudy golden with a spare fizzy white head. Aroma is sweet and consists of apple, citrus, white wine, malt, coriander and clove. The flavour for the most part contained all the elements mentioned in the aroma but was a bit too flat, a bit sour and the alcohol was too present. Decent beer but nothing special.
