No lace on the glass. The taste was ok, with a lengthy spicy finish with a sticky texture. Overl all i would stick with the Belgian original. Vertical Bacon Strips (903), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 20, 2009 Poured out a brilliant dark copper brown brew but only a small fizzy light cap that goes to a rim hugger. All the sediment is swirled up now. The aroma is fairly fresh, interesting spices, allspice? hint of smoke, scrambled eggs (wha?), something that makes me think of what burnt cinnamon would smell like, (just poured more and poured it very hard... more fizzy foam), the aroma is fine but something is odd here and not in a bad way - just in a "what is that and why is that there" way. Tastes Belgium all the way, so, well done. The flavour is not in anyway overwhelming but the spices are there and come across quite pleasant. light molasses, other weak peppery spices, a dark caramel sits lurking on the end of the sip. The spice, if you really go deep does have a bit of a bit. There is also a medicinal quality that I’m finding time after time on the back end of this beer and I think I am breathing out the alcohol as I type. A bit of throat burn is happening but it’s not happening on individual sips rather that this is an accumulation of sips and the fact that the sediment is not even close to settling even after 15 minutes. Medium bodied with thinner moments. Maybe there is a small bit of .. ahhaha I forgot! quite wasted right now and spending most of my time editing my Grade 2 level spelling skills. This beer is decent enough, nothing to disappoint, nothing to tell your mistress about.. that whore BroSpud (612), , Massachusetts, USA

Rating it to keep track but don’t have any particulars. My notes tell me that it was on the light side for this style. cfrancis (349), Gloucester, Ontario, Canada

Aroma is toasty caramel biscuity malts, light nuts and some chocolate - fruits- pear and apple hints, with a syrupy honey like hint as well. Flavor is sweet and fruity- molasses, toasty, caramel malts, woodsy and earthy- dirt like with an astringent and bubbly effervescent finish. jcwattsrugger (5572), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 16, 2009 Bottle shared at the UFC 100 gathering from dickinsonbeer, I think?? Poured a hazy orange/brown with nice tight foamy head. Aroma is sweet overall with notes of alcohol, honey, grass and yeast. Flavor is sweet as the aroma would lead you to believe with notes of honey, caramel, and lots of yeast. Not sure what my overall rating means but it reads "solid but what the hell"...I think that has more or less to do with a Chouffe beer being brewed in Montreal. robinvboyer (1442), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada
