Aroma of sweet orange soda and spices. Very strange. The aroma is actually very sweet and is kind of a turn off. Color is a dark copper brown with a slight haze to it. Sweet flavor too with more orange. candy sugar and some nutmeg. This is a very strange brew. Very little alcohol presence and is almost flat in the mouth. Am wondering if there may be something wrong with this bottle. Finish is sweet with some lingering spice. Very one dimensional. Not a very good brew from a great brewer. Unfortunate. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 16, 2007 Pours an about dead on average reddish hue. I heard only the slightest hiss when I opened the bottle so I was a bit worried about carbonation, but there was a bit of a head, it disappeared very very shortly. The nose is sharply fruity. Peaches, ginger, coriander and a hint of orange. A relatively round malt. Hints of cinnamon and a little toast. The mouthfeel is a good dead thin, but still somehow has an adequate body with a bit of viscosity, not bad. The flavors take a bit of a hit due to a few flaws. First, the good. This beer is jam packed with flavor. A big badass malt profile, round and sweet. There huge fruit. The peach is more subdued, the date and raisin are much more forward. Well balanced ginger and cinnamon, hints of coriander. But unforunately, the bear is a bit too toasty, with a bit too much diacetyl for the style, and some DMS showing through. There was a sharp almost foot-like smell that was out of place. I see where they want this beer to go, and I like the idea, but I think this recipe needs some trouble shooting. bu11zeye (5675), Frisco, Texas, USA

App.: Cloudy orange-brown, with an orange-tan head.
Aroma: Prominent sweet candy malt, honey, dried fruits, molasses, treacle, a touch of spice.
Palate: Medium-full, smooth body, effervescent but somewhat restrained carbonation.
Flav.: Follows the nose – sweet molasses, brown sugar, toffee, honey, a little floral, a hint of spice, dark dried fruits. Somewhat sweet, alcohol is noticeable, light residual bitterness.
A bit simple, but competent. Like my brother.

Smells like earthy gardening with a medicinal spicy background and a huge waft of alcohol sitting on top. Cloudy, light brown body with a burst of many tiny fast-rising bubbles throughout and a big bubbly foamy off-white head. Flavour is a sweet rooty base that’s complex but comes together -- QC microbrew style. Medium body with a sweet light and fluffy feel and noticeable alcohol. Very interesting texture but wouldn’t want to prolong it. french tickler (642), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada

Other aromas are of fermenting red wine with a slight caramel / toffee finish. You can feel the 8.5% in this one. Good bitterness. Nice combination of malts, a bit fruity and not as sweet as expected. Quevillon (1540), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada
