Like the Blonde d'Achouffe brewed by Le Cheval Blanc, this beer is not a copy of the original Chouffe family, but a beer brewed in cooperation with and in honor of the Belgian micro.

Bottle: Pours to a slightly hazy dirty amber/bronze with a small light tan head. The aroma is has a bit of a spicy & musty quality to it, almost peppery at times. There’s scents of brown sugar, apple, caramel, and some orange peel. The taste is a brief chocolate flavor, orange, spice, pepper, licorice, yeast, brown sugar, malts, ginger, and raw sugar cane. Medium bodied. I had no idea this was 8.5% until I was entering the rating, so it’s hiding it very well.

Slightly hazy bronze with a thin head. Smells sweet, a bit apple, caramel, definitely retaining Belgian features. The rich flavors, like caramel spectrum, finish quickly while yeast and a hint of alcohol remain. Some carbonation tingling away on the palate help out, but it is too hollow to bring lasting enjoyment, though there is some encouraging directions. And the 8.5% alcohol is really well hidden.

Clear dark amber with a small white head. Aroma of some wood and toasty grains. Flavor has notes of caramel, wood, apple, plum/raisin and a hint of chocolate and spiciness. Moderately sweet with a touch of hop bitterness and some alcohol in the finish. Medium, creamy body with pleasant subtle carbonation. Nice.

Cloudy dark copper color with a fluffy diminishing cream colored head. Toasted wheat bread aromas, with some prunes and citrus. Tangy flavors of orange and toasted malt. Some metallic qualities. Raw hops seem to have a presence. Seems young and lifeless, even with a rather bubbly feel.

Bottle shared courtesy of Fatty (thanks!). Poured a medium brown color with a smaller sized tan head. Aromas of earth, fruits, toffee and light spices. Tastes of pretty much the same.
