It’s the color of burn sugar, only slightly transparent. Very hoppy and delicious. Not overwhelmingly flavorful so can be enjoyed with a meal. unibrouefan (124), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

The flavor is spicy and very smooth and palate is very good in mouth. Surprising beer...well done. Eructoblaster (1508), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 5, 2004 Very nice cloudy brown-orange body topped with a fair brownish head. Aroma is definitely spicy and carries some hints of herbs, hops and various fruits (grape, citrus, cherries). Taste is impressive. It attacks your mouth with moderate carbonation, the flavors (spices, hops, fruits, flowers) are perfectly equilibrated and the alcohol makes feel its presence without being too agressive. All this ends in a nice bittersweet final. That under licence brewed beer is a genuine success! TAR (2095), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 15, 2004 Cloudy garnet. Creamy ring with a broken, off-white foam layer. Peachy esters dominate the sweet malt underlay along with pound cake, perfumey alcohol, herbs, dates, and lightly spicy hops. Quite yeasty with a slight amount of must. Delicate body. Expansive, creamy carbonation. Subtle gritty yeast twang immediately matches the peachy esters and spicy hop front. Bready malts and date-like sweetness help calm the fruitiness as it gains a mild wax note. It almost loses a bit of body at the center, but the juicy hop bitterness flawlessly fills the gap. Nutty malts are brilliantly displayed underneath a score of cobwebby yeast and fruity esters. Finishes with the right amount of mustiness and flowers as the yeast films the palate alongside bright, juicy hop components. Floral and wax notes reside on the palate after the finish. Masterfully-crafted brew. In order to reach perfection, this only needs a touch more firm malt sweetness to spruce up the body and soften the fruity yeast notes. Otherwise, the alcohol is not even remotely a factor in the flavor dept. and only helps brighten the aroma. Thanks for this gem, Rasta! PBOYNY (316), Westchester, New York, USA

Nose is yeasty, hints of banana, alchol and spice. Body is thick with malt. Nice light banana notes. Slightly spritzy, comes towards a light hoppiness at the finish. Overall quite nice, tastey and works well together.

Very cloudy dark auburn colour with a hint of red shining through. The head is big and froth while quickly dissipating. The aroma is fresh with fruit - light apple scents. Lightly spiced and yeasty. The body is very choclatey and malty at the front. A good thick yeastiness is accompanied by a nice sweetness that is not cloying. A light bitterness finishes this nice belgian-style strong ale.
