12 ounce bottle from City Market in Burlington VT (January 2008), served a little below cellar temperature from a Unibroue glass. A massive, smooth but quickly diminishing white head fills 2/3 of the glass, leaving light spidery lacing above the clear amber-gold body....musty aroma, dried caramel chews and a hint of vanilla and licorice, faint toasty malts, no hop presence....moderately sweet, grainy body, bit caramel-ly, with some burnt and chalky characteristics towards the finish that make for a somewhat unpleasant conclusion....watery texture, somewhat artificial/forced-seeming carbonation, bit of metallic character. About what I’d expect from this brewery.

Jun 26, 2008 Dark tan, a bit hazy, with a smallish white head. Nose is of honey and cereal. Flavor has a smallish shot of citric hops, and a nice bit of honey. Surprisingly well-crafted product from a big regional brewer.

does not count  Jun 11, 2008 Unfortunately had to drink straight from the bottle. Slight malty aroma (for what I could get anyway) and a malty taste with a mouthfeel that lingered a bit like cream.

Feb 1, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear light amber with a fading white head. Just a touch of grassy hops in the aroma, and a bit of bread and fruit. Medium-light body and moderate carbonation. There seems to be some fusel influences at work here, it sort of dries out in mid-palate, which doesn’t get the marzen thing working for me.
