Commercial Description:
Coup de Grisou was introduced on the market in October 1996. It is a copper-coloured Ale-type beer, containing 5% alcohol, refermented in bottle. With a potent, explosive taste, this beer has a powerful aroma of buckwheat and coriander giving it an unbelievable density. Bottle refermentation imparts a yeast-enriched flavour. Serve between 6° and 8° C, preferably in a hybrid glass.

Very spicy, a mix of spice that create a flavor explosion in the moutch when you first drink it. The main spice is coriander. Then you get the Wheaty flavor fallowed by the citrus finish. Not bad !

Appealing bouquet coming from a dark gold beverage. As it enters the mouth, you feel a mix of spices, definitely coriander, some citrus too that stays in the mouth for some time (you'd wish longer) Overall a very honest light summer beer.

I found the label amusing: a man with an apparently massive headache is clutching his head while a small boulder hurtles towards him. The beer was delicious and reminiscent of a german wheat, yet in a malty way. Nice floral bouquet.

(Bottle) HUGE chunks of sediment - filter-guy must have been on a pee break - Very gross really! Pours a thin, instantly dissipating white head and a orange-amber cloudy body. Wheat nose with floral undertones. Mellow flavours of malt and citrus. Hoppy, acidic finish.

Nice white but not very special. Love the aroma though with citrus, sweet malts and coconut. Cloudy amber colour, white frothy head, nice lace. Light citrus, light sweet, bit thin, not very strong flavors. Long lasting finish, little hoppy.

The beer upon its debarking the 12-ounce brown bottle pours a well 'Chill Hazed' orange-amber color, the head munificent, creamy white in color, it disintegrates into velvet like sheets that cling to the glass. 'Ah That Smell', earthy grains, citrus, hints of bubble gum, ripe fruit, malt, need I say more. Front is lightly sweet, the top skinny, the finish forcefully acidic, the hops apropos to this style, the aftertaste droughty and long lasting, quite drinkable, not great but certainly a nice change of pace for me.

I mainly bought this for the curiousity factor (buckwheat?? in beer??) and the promise of spiciness. It was mellower than I anticipated, but still pleasing - some bubblegum in the aroma and flavour, some coriander, and maybe ginger? A little too fizzy, though.
