Commercial Description:
Coup de Grisou was introduced on the market in October 1996. It is a copper-coloured Ale-type beer, containing 5% alcohol, refermented in bottle. With a potent, explosive taste, this beer has a powerful aroma of buckwheat and coriander giving it an unbelievable density. Bottle refermentation imparts a yeast-enriched flavour. Serve between 6° and 8° C, preferably in a hybrid glass.

hazy amber/orange color. small head, that dissipaes quickly. Lots of spices in the aroma, some corrander, and a touch of cloves. MUch more of the same in the flavour with some yeastiness to it. Hmmm......not much on the german style of a weizen, more like a dark belgian wit.

Pours out a cloudy orange with a little sediment. Frothy white head that dies pretty quick. Smells big on the coriander, a little spicy and slightly sweet malt note. Coriander is up front but not powerful in any way with a little sweet and spice in the finish. Light and crisp in the mouth with good carbonation. Very very drinkable/sessionable.

Blondish, hazy, light head. Smells hoppy and spicy with a hint of fruit. Tastes quite smooth, spicy, coriander, hoppy. Very consistent and very unique.

Sample form 341 ml bottle. Hazy pale yellow colour with a frothy white head. Lemony, wit-like spicy aroma. Dry wheaty flavour with a touch of coriander. Light bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Not bad, but surprised to see it listed as a dunkelweizen as it was far more wit-like in character.

Good sized frothy white head of medium sized bubbles. Good carbonation. Fruity and spicy aroma. Oranges, peaches, cloves and nutmeg. Bit of crisp cirtus in there also. Color is a hazy golden orange. Dry and slightly tart flavor. Crisp lemon, dry and chalky yeast along with some spices up front. Late swallow some nice biscuity malts show up. Finishes dry and a little bitterness and tartness. A pretty good brew. Thanks etowneraser!
