Mar 24, 2003 (Bottle) Pours a quick dissipating head and a copper body. Nose of caramel and hops. Taste of roasted malt, smoke, caramel and thin. Finishes somewhat bitter. As mentioned, this is a seemingly hybrid beer with some Belgian undertones - doen't quite achieve it.

Aug 29, 2002 An interesting concoction to asy the least - slightly burnt overtones with a mild malty flavor. Light hop bitterness at finish. Just didn’t do it for me...

Aug 21, 2002 I know they say it is a scotch ale but the use of the same yeast they use in the belgians is quite evident. Tasted more like a too heavy bodied belgian to me.
