Don’t know what to make of this beer, it is just far out and strange, but in no way unpleasant, and the more I drink it the more I like it. Oakes (8093), gone rambling, Vietnam

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Dec 16, 2004 (2003 bottle) Hazy amber body with medium off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, white grape, apricot, coriander. Taste is medium sweet, strong cranberr, lemon, and ginger make this quite sour. Coriander also present. Medium body, some acidity. The sourness really threw me, as the nose gave no indication of that - almost makes it undrinkable. I might think it was infected but for the several raters that also noted the strong sourness. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 1, 2005 Thanks to beerbuzzmontreal for this one. Orange-pink cloudy beer with a thick and lasting creamy white head. Nose is spicy but there are loads of phenolic aromas as well, that are a little off-putting. The flavour is nice and tart, cranberry flavour up front, light spiciness and a crisp tart finish. Not a bad beer, but something in the aroma was a bit off. As it warms, this problem lessens opening up more yeasty spice and a bit of bubble gum. BückDich (4848), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 11, 2004 Hazy orange, ruby with good carbonation levels. The aroma is awesome with some fruity funk & barny sour yeast; very spicy too. The flavor is tart with nice sourness & sweet hops. Delicious dry finish, puckering yet balanced and complex. Nice gingerbread man aroma with sweet vanilla and mpale notes. Slightlysour grapefruits in mouth with ginger and cranberry notes, and coriander. A bit thin but nice, like a real x-mas party. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 7, 2003 Beautiful deep-orange, verging on red, huge fizzy head leaves hints of creamy snowdrifts. Nose malty-cranberry-muffins. Yeasty sweet-and-sour flavor is predominantly fruity, lightly malty, acidic, no hops worth mentioning. Perhaps a little thin. Definitely a worthy effort, if not something I would drink with any regularity. Thanks MatinT!
