Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 16, 2005 [Vintage 2001, Sampled 2005] An unclear amber beer with a disappearing orange head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of over ripe fruits as well as some yeast. The flavor contains notes of prunes, and over ripe fruits, and with a dry slightly roasted end. The mouthfeel is very carbonated. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 19, 2005 Original Rating (to be re-entered): Rerate (5-1-5-2-11=2.4): Caramel, sherry and orange liqueur-like aromas. Opaque brown-copper with low, fizzy, off-white, fully-diminishing head. Yeasty, madeirized sherry flavours with orange and herbal notes. Very dry, medium-light body with low carbonation. Not suited for aging, I suppose. Bottle sampled with Oakes, Rastacouere, St-Eric and Ungstrup.
CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Mar 24, 2003 (Bottle) Pours a amber body with a thick lasting white head. Aromas of fruit, spice and slight cherry. Nice Belgian flavours with strong spices and finishes somewhat tart. Good complexity. Panzuriel (992), Westerville, Ohio, USA Mar 11, 2003 Strong belgian ale with aromas of fruit. Nice full moutfeel. Good full round flavor of hops. Nice beer. SimonPatrice (312), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jan 16, 2003 Golden, long-lasting head. Aroma of spices, yeast, maybe berries also. A thick sometimes tart, sometimes acid fruity beer. dhurtubise (568), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Aug 21, 2002 Not one of thir best. Thick for a belgian styled beer. Fairly spicy and heavy on the "dirty" cheval blanc yeast.
