Overwhelming amount of yeast in aroma, yet still some maple syrup sweetness and banana in aroma. The taste is not overly maple, but it’s definitely there, with some banana notes and the distinctive flavours that come from the Cheval Blanc yeast. Also some bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation. Not bad stuff, but I probably won’t have it again. piscator34 (1132), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 15, 2005 Hazy orange in colour with only a small amount of carbonation. The aromas start off as somewhat yeasty, but then quickly evolves into a combination of maple and vanilla. Fairly malty flavor with some subtle sweet maple and nut flavors on the finish. Unique. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 17, 2005 Bouteille de 660 ml provenant du brassin 2003 (Donc vieille de 2 ans) gracieusité de mon frère. Arôme: Forte odeur d’érable. (Sûrement dû au 2 ans de vieillissement). Apparence: Couleur blonde foncée voilée. Aucun col. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 14, 2004 Tasted in Toronto. Obtained at Depanne Plus in Hull QC. Appearance is an opaque rust or brown colour (almost like maple fudge) with a very small thin brownish tan head. Aroma has a metallic scent and sweet maple cream / fudge smell. The mapleness in the taste is much more subtle than the smell, but it is interseting nontheless. I can’t help being reminded of the maple cream/fudge taste. Reminds me of my youth. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 4, 2004 Bottle. What an interesting combination, maple syrup and beer! Hazy, deep-golden colour. Big fizzy head leaves no lace whatsoever. Aroma is almost entirely of maple syrup and yeast. Lively carbonation. Sweet and thick...like, maple syrup. Certainly wouldn’t want to drink a lot of this stuff, it’s filling and cloying. sticky mouthfeel. a cool idea makes for a decent beer.
