adavis234 (133), Columbia, South Carolina, USA Sep 20, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep, acorn brown with a thin tan head. Malty, slightly woody aroma with a hint of hops but not too much there. Flavor is light and crisp with a a bit of chocolate malt and a bit of a hoppy bitter finish, but much like the aroma there isn’t much to it. The best thing about RJ Rockers’ brews are their patriotic names. bubbleflubber (885), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Sep 6, 2009 On draught at the High Country Beer Fest, it pours a nut brown into the glass, with a creamy tan head that leaves window-wash lacing. The nose is nice, of chocolate malt and roasted, toasty notes. The flavors follow somewhat in tow, with a malty front, maybe some hints at dry-roasted almonds mid-palate, and closes a bit bitter toward the finish. The mouthfeel is thinner and light-bodied, with aggregate carbonation. Decent brew, but doesn’t stand apart from the "brown ale" crowd as anything special. ben4321 (957), Rockville, Maryland, USA Aug 3, 2009 Location: 12 oz bottle from Brickskeller, 7/31/09
Aroma: Nice malty nose, caramel, honey, chocolate, toasted malts
Appearance: Nice brown color, clear, tan head
Flavor: Like the nose, malty sweetness up front, sweet, roasted characteristics too
Palate: A bit watery/thin, decent mouthfeel
Overall Impression:
I’d seen this one in the store a few times, but never bought it. This beer is fair, I would like a bot more body in a brown, but it had a decent taste, and a nice enough nose.
nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Aug 3, 2009 First rating from the great state of South Carolina, bottle sampled at Brickskeller in DC. Clear medium brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma is malt and a little chocolate. Flavor is caramel malt, brown sugar, nuts, and a little chocolate. A little thin on the palate. Average overall. haddon90 (1035), Alexandria, Virginia, USA Jul 25, 2009 Bottle. Pours a mild brown color with a thin, lacing head. A little malt with a hint of brown sugar in the aroma. Crisp, with a little bite to the malt. Some caramel, brown sugar, and a hint of molasses as well. But I think it’s a little light for a brown since all of the notes weren’t that strong. fiver29 (703), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jul 22, 2009 Bottle pours perfect clear brown color with light tan head. Aroma is real nice. Roasty chocolate comes to mind. Too much carbonation and and is a bit thin. I’m starting to see a trend with this brewer on the mouthfeel. Flavor is brown sugar, nuts, slight chocolate, and finishes dry. This is a better beer than the overall ratings suggest. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 14, 2009 Bottle from State Line. pours turbid deep brown with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is malt, brown sugar, cacao, earhy. Tastes scotch malty, with brown sugar, cacao, and walnutty notes.
