Jan 18, 2009 Date: 12/2/2008 Source:Other Caramel aroma with some graininess and hint of alcohol. Clear dark copper golden. Flavor is malty, bread and grainy with some grassy resiny hop notes. Touch of alcohol warming. Something like an imperial pale or amber ale. Dry finish with moderate residual bitterness. Ehhh

Jan 16, 2009 Bottle on 11/26/2008. Clear amber body with a medium frothy off-white head. Sweet caramel aroma with some floral and light citrusy hops. Sweet grassy, floral hop flavor with resiny notes and a caramel background. Medium light body with moderate carbonation.

Jan 15, 2009 Bottle: This was described to me as an IPA, so I tried it and was clearly disappointed based upon my initial expectation. The main thing that stood out to me was that there was a very heavy malt character, and that the hops were seemingly an afterthought. Tasted like a Nut Brown / Pale Ale hybrid. Odd.

Jan 10, 2009 After years, finally able to knock off South Carolina! Medium slightly hazy orangish brown, slight head. Aroma is sweet caramel malts and some cooked citrus grapefruit. Flavor matches. Caramel malts, warm citrus notes of grapefruit and a bit of orange. I would have liked a bit more bitterness to balance out the sweetness of the malts, but not a bad beer at all.

Pours an attractive hazy orange with a nicely lasting white head. Smell is very mild and more caramel and faint hops than would be expected in a DIPA, but still a pleasantly malty and faintly fruity nose. Taste is fairly balanced with a slight leaning towards hops. A bit of sweet caramel up front along with fruity, orange and tropical fruity hops, along with a noticeable alcohol presence. Medium to full mouthfeel with medium, crisp carbonation. Solid DIPA, but could have hidden the ABV a touch better and been a bit more vibrant in the nose. Still enjoyable.

Nov 1, 2008 12 ounce bottle from Corks & Kegs in Richmond. Pours a pretty straightforward brown color with a bit of a haze. One finger head with average retention and poor lacing. Nutty aroma with some caramel notes and a muddled hop finish. Bitter hops in the taste with chocolate, caramel and nutty notes. A little bit of alcohol is noticeable. Medium-full bodied.
