Commercial Description:
Our American pale ale is aggressively hopped with Challenger and Cascade and has a sweet caramel finish. The flavor that launched RJ Rockers – and brewer Mark Johnsen’s personal fave. 6.0% abv

Bottle from Total Wine St. Pete. Pours deep gold with white head. Nose is piney hops, malt, trop fruit. Tastes hoppy, piney, with slight peppery, fruity, and medium malt heft. Nothing abhorrent here, but nothing earth-shattering either.

Bottle bought in Virginia. Not a well crafted beer. Pour is a light caramel color with a small white head. Light sticky lacing. Aroma is a confused mix of caramel and various hops. That pretty much describes the flavor, too. Add in some mild spiciness and bread. The caramel doesn’t seem natural and the hops don’t work well together. This is a bitter pale ale and a dry one. Quite thin in the mouth.

bottle. pours a clear, light golden color, thin half inch of foamy head that clears pretty quick. Muted aroma showing not much other than some smooth caramel sweetness. Flavor shows a bit more depth- some light citrus hop notes up front, spicy bitterness and a lingering hoppy finish. Smooth toasted caramel sweetness in the background. Flavor isn’t amazing, but major improvement over the nose. Palate is light, crisp and sharp with decent carbonation. Overall a decent pale ale with a very weak aroma.

Pours a brass color with a nice persistent head and nice lacing. Nose is slightly floral and a little sour. Taste is nicely hop spiced with a sweetness but also a slight note of vinegar. Finish is hoppy and bitter/sweet, typical of an American pale ale.

Bottle. Pours light orange with tight white head. The aroma is very bready with some citrus...it is what it is...

Light amber pour with a semi-lasting head. The smell was bready, citrus, and slightly sour. The taste was similar to the smell but also slightly metallic. The bitterness was a bit over the top with little hop flavor to back it up. Body was thin-medium.

(Bottle) This is the maltiest American Pale Ale I’ve ever tried. It is strongly hopped, but the malt is so powerful that it dominates the aroma and flavour. Although the beer looks somewhat light in appearance, it has a very rich, full body. There’s a pleasantly dry aftertaste. A powerful beer, although neither the malt nor hops are terribly complex. It gets to be a bit heavy and sweet by the end of the bottle. I don’t particularly like the character of the hops...it has an unpleasant caraway-like taste that seems to accumulate in strength as you drink it.
