Commercial Description:
This "typical" beer has an aroma of wheat, caramel malt and yeast, which give it its legendary spicy taste. Bottle refermentation imparts a yeast enriched flavor.

Formerly known as Cheval Blanc Rousse, now only as Spéciale Rousse.

Sampled under the name Cap Espoir, cloudy amber hue, with an off-white head, yeasty, fruity nose, with a malty, wheaty accent, with a coriander spiciness, a juicy orange and tangerine fruitiness, a faint floral hop note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate, with a zesty, yeasty, wheaty, fruity character, of orange citrusy, nice spicy coriander accent, with a malty caramel flavor, leadiing towards a fruity, malty and hop bittering finish.

Dark orange poor with a thin beige head. Aromas of apples, toffee, allspice, sweet bread, with a hint of pink lemonade and avocado. Lighter bodied than anticipated and missing a little carbonation. Very spicy flavors with caramel. Nice bitter mouthfeel with a good dry finish.

This cloudy light amber colored beer has a yeasty nose and taste with a medium haze. The beer is more citricy then expected for a red and not as smooth. Finish is dry.

Bottle. A hazy orange beer with a off-white head. Clove/fruits aromas. Flavor is spicy with notes of coriander and a dry end. Medium mouthfeel. Nothing outstanding but a very decent beer. 2007-05-22 Sampled under the name Cap Espoir. Quite similar to my original rating.

More of an clear amber than a red. Caramel malt noticable in the aroma and flavor. It’s ok, but one to try is enough.

Near opaque red amber. Warm scent. Herby and spicy. Bitter rose tasting with some clove.

Pas mauvaise, mais peu spectaculaire et un peu trop amère. La rousse et meilleur.
