Commercial Description:
This "typical" beer has an aroma of wheat, caramel malt and yeast, which give it its legendary spicy taste. Bottle refermentation imparts a yeast enriched flavor.

Formerly known as Cheval Blanc Rousse, now only as Spéciale Rousse.

Une vraie bonne rousse, d’ailleurs c’est la meilleure que je connais. Aucun arrière-goût âcre, c’est ce qui, pour moi, fait qu’elle est la meilleure! Bravo!

Pours cloudy amber colour with a thin head. Spicey aroma with a touch of wheat also present. Spice, caramel and yeasty taste.

[bottle] Murky brownish-orange wiht a thin, white blanket. Cloves dominated the nose wiht some corriander, lemon, and peach. Nice "buttery", clovey, and malty flavour in balance with an ever so gentle bitterness and residual sweetness. Medium body with good carbonation, which makes this somewhat refreshing. I think they’re using the same yeast for this, the blanche, and the amber and that’s what’s dominating the aroma/flavour. I thought this was the best of the three.

Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a thin white head. Spicy and yeasty aroma and flavor. Medium body, soft carbonation. Again, an ordinary beer from RJ.

I thought the Amber was better. Arom is slight malts and spices with a tinge of wheat in the flavour. Light, bitter end.

Murky amber, medium finger deep tanned top. Fresh, mature aroma mats and yeast spiced on top the Belgian way. Dry, slightly flat subdued character. White pepper bit of lime. Kind of a let down.

Malt and mild citrus nose, pale auburn, very tiny malt flavour, light bodied, not much of a Belgian. Thanks joey_capps.
