Commercial Description:
This "typical" beer has an aroma of wheat, caramel malt and yeast, which give it its legendary spicy taste. Bottle refermentation imparts a yeast enriched flavor.

Formerly known as Cheval Blanc Rousse, now only as Spéciale Rousse.

A hazy red-orange beer with a nice off-white head. The aroma is sweet spicy and yeasty. The flavor is spicy with notes of oranges and coriander and a dry end. Average.

A bit of a headscratcher. It tasted less like an amber than it did a yeasty whiskey malt beer. But as far as I know there isn’t any smoked malt of any kind in this beer. Maybe I was just really out of it that night. One for the re-sample list next time I’m in Montreal.

Amber color, where's the head? Smells wheat, tastes sweet wheat and hops, I'm out of words already

Co-rated by scraff... Murky, deep golden ale. No head. Candied fruit in the nose... a marriage of raspberry and blueberry. Some hay in the aroma as well. The flavor is pungent and tangy. Light-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Crisp, clean finish.

Bottled. Spicy herbal and fruity aroma. Cloudy, orange color, beige head, good lace. Light sweet, light bitter, herbal, fruity. Very refreshing and typical flavors you don’t get much. Unlike most other ’reds’ I’ve ever had.

A hazy amber ale with orange hues and a thick big bubbled white head. A lightly spiced aroma, of sweet malt, light fruity esters, and light sulfury notes. In mouth, a rather bland reflection of its past self, Cap Espoir, in my view, is a bland rip off of Unibroue (note the label) with a sligtly sweet malt, light coriander and a rather thin body. On repassera....

Cooked cabbage in the aroma with some mild banana. Large white head that recedes completely on golden brown body. Flavour hints at fruit (banana) and suggests spice without really making me believe it. Rather thin body for a wheat beer and mouthfeel is a bit watery.
