Cask sample at Volo Cask Days 2008. Golden amber with a small head of tight white bubbles. Aroma is very well hopped, with a nice herbal and almost skunky edge to it. Flavour is excellent - quite hop-forward, very citric and resiny, but enough malt to balance. Really solid stuff - I hope their new Hoptical Illusion has some similarity to this one.

[1799-20081017] Cask. Citrus hoppy rind aroma has some yeast notes. Hazy, amber orange body with quick white bubbles. Bready grains and hoppy orange pip flavour. Medium body is mildly bitter. Nice graininess.

On cask at Volo Cask Days 2008. Amber gold, small white head. Decent aroma - some hops and even some alcohol to go with the malt. Taste is surprisingly really really good - lots of hops, lots of malt, well balanced and yet the body remains light enough - wow, this is a very solid pale ale! Congrats to whoever at Robert Simpson came up with this winner! One of the best of the fest.

Cask. At Volo Cask Days 2008. Pretty solid brew - amber-gold pour, average white head. Dry green hop aroma, decent sweet malt behind - taste follows, not IPA bitterness, but solidly bitter for an Ontario brew - is this REALLY Robert Simpson? Really??? Average body, nice and crisp, the hops really go the extra mile, must be quite a lot in this. Maybe not all that smooth, but a fine effort.

Cask at ’Volo Cask Days 2008’. Pours a cloudy golden-copper with a small diminishing bubbly white head. Nice resiny hop aroma with a good malt background. Flavour follows the aroma, a hoppy Pale Ale with a decent bitter finish. Average bodied. Pretty good.

Cask @ Volo Cask Days 08. Aroma is very hoppy, loads of orange/pine goodness, dark amber, small tan head. Tastes of fresh wet, leafy hops, good orange kick, fine malt backing, medium bodied, well balanced, pleasantly bitter. Very good effort. Well done Michael Duggan.

on cask at volo for cask days 2008. copper with minimal carbonation. odd aromas, hop are there but they seem kind of muted by a weird boozy kind of harshness. the malt aspect is kind of toffee like and this wasnt the most pleasant aroma of the day. the flavours work much better then the aroma and the progression across the palate was well thought out. starts malty but then the hops come in for a long bitter hop finish. a touch thin and a little rough in places but still enjoyable. id have this again if it ever shows up in the future.

Cask Volo cask days 2008. hazy amber color, thin white head, nose is earthy hops and malt, flavor is as said before astringent, tastes like hop oils were used not pellets or cones. decent but not one id really like again.
