The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

Check plus! A wonderful quad from a wonderful (non-profit?!) brewery! Murcy, dark and opaque in appearance with a ~1 finger head. Dark, fruity aroma and a delicious flavor of nuts and sweet dark fruits. A lovely hint of sugary sweetness as well.

Bottled@home Apperance: Very, very, dark brown with a finger-sized head. Aroma: Toffee, Molasses, Ripe fruit, Spices, Sugar and roasted malts. Flavor: Candy sugar, Dark caramel, Toffee, Spices, Ripe fruit, Raisins and alcohol. Palate: Very smooth and sweet with a bit of pleasant burn from the alcohol. One of the best beers in the world. Period.

Nice, though not very outspoken aroma. Taste is great. Bit peated, caramel. Great aftertaste that lasts.

Eveytime I see that beige bottle label and holy grail lettering I smile and crack open a few . Spicy , herbally ,boozy chocolatre driven ale. I reckon the booze is a little more erratic and less smooth than the 8 but shit that’s being picky as this is sick beer.

Location: 12 oz. bottle at Waterfront Ale House NY, NY

Aroma: Slightly fruity, excellent
Appearance: Dark brown, great head, kind of off-white
Flavor: Wonderfully full, strong, complex, enjoyable
Palate: Full body, slightly syrupy, but really, this beer just makes you love beer
Overall Impression: This one was really excellent, seriously great, I wanted to give it a perfect score, I had heard great things, and when I saw it at the Waterfront Ale House, I couldn’t resist...glad I didn’t. Honestly, this is probably my favorite beer in the world.

Served at 35 F in Czech Pilner on 2/22/09. Excellent beer. It had a great flavor, very easy to drink and a good taste after. Not bitter, tinge of sweet.
