Commercial Description:
The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

Pours a coffee brown with a large tan head. The nose was minimal, smelling of malt, caramel, and a hint of cherry. taste was of malt and chocolate. A bit smoother on the palate than I would have assumed considering the 11.3% and the color. It left a smooth chocolate aftertaste that hung around for 15 minutes. I’m so glad to finally taste this one!

Bottle. Pours a deep murky brown, topped with a tan large-bubbled head which fades to a thin haze topping that lasts the remained of the beer. Enticing aroma of caramel, candi sugar, yeasty goodness, raisins and figs, cherries, hints of chocolate over top the wonderful malty base. A hint of alcohol is confirmed in the flavor as the beer warms, but this abt is quite smooth and well balanced for its big weight. Rich malty, caramel and yeasty in flavor. Some dark dried fruits and ever so slight chocolate touch. Body is nice, not cloying with a nice finish. Excellent beer, always happy to partake of this.

Well...here it is... Pours a mystical, magical, mysterious glorious but questionable muddy mahogany, dark brown colour. Head is tan, full and enticingly aromatic. Mouthfeel is incredible. creamy, fulfilling and delightful. aroma is sweet, carmel infused and balanced beyond perfection. Taste is without a doubt satisfyign beyond description. Lightly roasted caramel malts, generous floral accented butterscotch toffee flavors. Incredible beer, glad i finally found this one. :)

It smells sweet like when you open a fresh bag of Gummy Bears. A bit of cherry to the nose and tongue. Can’t initially taste the alcohol but after it sits on your tongue you can catch a lingering of the alcohol flavor but not overwhelming. This is a really good beer, one of the best beers that I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Consider yourself privileged if you are able to enjoy this one.

This is my farovite beer. Very complex aroma, caramel and spaces taste, so gorgious that the alcool is completly forgotten. Unbelieveble smell, this beer would never disappoint anybody.

Bottle. Dark brown with a tan head that quickly settles into a frothy ring. Significant sediment. Aroma is dates, raisin, and brandy. Taste is all that and more. Brown sugar sweetness, but not cloying. Dark fruits and bready yeastiness yield to a warm alcohol afterglow. Fizzy mouthfeel and sticky finish. Iconic beer that’s everywhere you want to be.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with medium head and lots of sediment. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, sweet malt, dark fruit and some spice. Flavor of brown sugar, raisin and spice and alcohol. That said, it certainly doesn’t taste like 11.3% abv. Lot of carbonation.

This is a BIG beer and is right up there with Westy 12 in my opinion, but much easier to get. The strength is masked by a wonderful mix of flavors. Looks great in the glass and tastes even better.
