Sammy (3041), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 25, 2004 Best of the trappistes rocheforts. One must try this in their lifetime, even if their last meal. One of the best beers I have ever tasted. The specs: Mahagony cloaked by beautiful cream. Agree this is the ideal match for a steak. More so than wine. Drank it late evening - wonderful idea. It's kalula, pear and apple fruit, citrus, caramel all in a perfect yeasty combination. Alcohol rock. To savour.
Rhisenburger (1), , Suffolk, England does not count Aug 29, 2008 Nice frothy head that wouldn’t go away and extremely smooth considering the ABV. Must try craftycarl21 (184), South Hero, Vermont, USA Aug 25, 2008 pours a dark murky brown with a boisterous frothy head, slow to dissipate. Great aroma- can smell it from 4 feet away, but still smooth and not over-aggressive. Notes of raisin, caramel, malt. Flavor is otherworldly- aggressive alcohol, some vinous qualities, malt, raisin, dark fruit, sweet molasses. Unfairly good. Palate is wondrous, sticky but oh so gentle on the tongue. Probably my favorite beer ever. JaffaHawk23 (19), Broomfield, Colorado, USA Aug 25, 2008 I don’t know what else I could say besides that this is definitely the best beer I ever tasted. Pure flavor coming from many different sources. Very thick fruity start and a satisfying spicy finish. At almost $7 a bottle I only had one but was plenty warm once I was finished. Worth the wait!!! jameswolfe (94), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 25, 2008 Well here it is, the legend in the flesh. Id be lying if I didnt say I wasnt a slight bit disspointed in this. But when you have heard so much good things, you are bound for a bit of a letdown. The beer is fantastic and complex though. Very fruity with a long bitter finish. Also one of the best looking beers in a glass. paiste2002 (16), Saugus, California, USA Aug 24, 2008 Unbelieveble! Very complex, dates, raisins,
cherries, spicy, caramel, chocolate maybe some plum in there as well. Excellent beer
an all time favorite.
