Light earthy nose mingled with rain. Thinner tan head sits upon a cloudy brown. Cinnamon upfront in this spicy and tingling medium bodied brew. Dark fruit swirls about the mouth making me feel dizzy. Props to the Bonster for the bottle.

Dec 19, 2009 33cl bottle $7.19, I have been meaning to try this for a while. Turbid brown despite my attempt to keep the yeast out, almost black, flimsy head. It smells like vinegar and pickles at first but as it warms up it becomes sweet candied spices. the flavor has a quad-like sweetness but it also has a strong black licorice quality to it. The alcohol is not blatant but I know it is there because I can feel it. Overall I liked Rochefort 8 more.

Dec 19, 2009 If Carlsberg made proper beer they would probably make this one. Slightly murky appearance, but a strong head that lasts leaving lacing on the glass. Heady sweet aroma, and intense initial taste of plummy sweetness. Satisfyingly full mouthfeel without being heavy, silky. Fantastic.

Dec 18, 2009 Bottle from Bert’s Bierhuis. Pours dark brown with off-white head. Smell of plums and caramel. Taste is also of dark fruits and caramel. I love this beer!

Dec 18, 2009 What can I say? Figgs; caramel. brown sugar, roasted malts and vanilla. One amazing beer. Folks if you want a cheaper alternative to Wety then go for this. It is on a par with Grand Pannepot Reserve 2006. I love this beer. Poured from bottle into my old yellow emblem Rochefort glass. Good times.

Dec 15, 2009 Pours dark opaque brown with a huge frothy tan head that lasts until the beer is gone. Aroma- molasses, cherry, plum, raisin, grain, toasted malt and mild alcohol. Taste is sweet and rich and very smooth. Alcohol is pleasent and mixes well with the complexity of the rest of the beer. Medium body with a smooth carbonation. Would be better with years of age but is still fantastic.

Dec 14, 2009 330mL bottle, pours a dark brown with a big beige head. Outstanding nose of black currant, raisin/other dried fruit and dough/yeast. Very, very complex flavour - raisins, plum and spices. One of the world’s best.
