Commercial Description:
The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

Bottled. A wonderful nose with fruit of banana and fig. Little off-white head. Very nice brown colour. Flavour with burned carame and well balanced between sweet and bitter (is maybe to the sweet side). Lovely alcoholic bite. Sweet, alcohol and slightly bitter finish.

Nose is pure heaven. Dried fruits, freshly baked bread and winter hearth. Maybe a little pumpkin and onion like aromas. Incredibly complex. Sweet on the palate and so smooth. Finish lingers. A true work of art.

tasted side by side with the westvleteren 12, bad mistake. the westv put this one to shame which i thought before was a decent beer. it poured a nice maroon/purple color smelled boring and tasted sweet. alchohol is hidden but you can taste it

bottle courtesy of bmartin08. nice extra! pours a thick brown, fairly cloudy with some floaties. aroma has some figs and prunes, and a lil dough. the taste is a lil odd and i can’t tell if it’s oxidized or is just hot and needs a few more years. it full of all the goodies, just slightly askew. but the after tasate is amazing, deep and complex. i’d like to try a different vintage now and get more of an idea of how it ages and develops.

Bottle from The Trappist. Pours a thick brown with beige head; fluffy but stays for some time. Aroma has notes of raisins, bananas and figs. Flavor is sweet but finishes dry. Excellent Quad!

Pours a dark maroon with an off-white head and nice lacing. Fruity nose. Taste of raisin, banana, pear, and plum. Notes of molasses. Alcohol is astoundingly well hidden, virtually no notes of alcohol in the taste. Thick full-bodied mouth feel. Sweet, fruity finish.

Smells a bit bready but also a bit like something that was stored in plastic too long...?? Quite dark, nice head and lacing, not really black or able to see particles though, just dark. Big bold bread and malt flavour. The biggest part is at the mid palate and the aftertaste, it fades away nicely. Very nice, though as I drink more I can taste that extra alcohal, maybe a lesser one would be better for a regular drink.

Pours almost black with a thick creamy off-white head. Aroma of earth, basement, raisins, dark chocolate and even a hint of red wine. Very warm full bodied sweet flavor of raisins, plum, and spices. Very long lingering bittersweet finish that has my mouth tingling. I really like this fabulous beer.
