Slightly musty brown sugar aroma with milk chocolate undertones. Cloudy ochre with chunks, enormous tan head. Hyperalcoholic feel to it. Dusty pear flavor with a chestnut finish. I completely poured it wrong but aside from that, this was quite enjoyable. Not terribly complex and the alcohol was obtrusive, but it still tasted good.

This reddish-brown colored Trappist beer has a great caramel/nutty taste...a bit bitter on the finish, but an overall excellent beer. My favorite (along with Chimay Blue) among the Trappist beers. While Rochefort 10 is frequently ranked higher, I find #6 to be much better...

Red-brown color with adherent elegant foam. The aroma is very pleasant and particular, where the floral one and the initial speziato turn to the yielded one. The body is round the yielded taste and the bitterish end.

Pours a hazy brown color with a nice thick tan head. Aromas of caramel and fruits with some sugars. Flavors of caramel and vanilla, some light fruits such as pears with spices and a hint of honey. The texture is creamy and crisp at the same time, light in mouth. A light bitter sweet finish. Complex and well ballance. A beautifull beer.

Serving: 330 ml bottle. Appearance: Cloudy amber brown color with a large, active, light tan head. Great head retention and spotty lacing. Aroma: Spicy and earthy nose with notes of yeast, cardamon, soap, wood, and a bit of cola. Flavor: Nice malty flavor on the tongue with notes of spice, a bit of caramel, alcohol, earthy yeast, dark honey, and some dust. Complex and delicious. Palate: Light on the tongue but prickly and highly carbonated. Short, clean finish. Really a pleasure to drink. Overall: This one reminds me of why I love this brewery. While not as complex as it’s brothers, it is still a very tasty brew. Recommended.

From the bottle, pours a hazy reddish orange with no head. Aroma is sweetly malty. Taste is lightly sour, some caramel malt, sour again at the end. The bottle fizzed up when I opened it, so I wonder if it wasn’t a bit old. Good but not spectacular. I’ll try it again and potentially re-rate.

33cl bottle poured into a Rochefort Trappist glass. Dark amber with a ton of tan head. Smells like bread. Flavors are subdued, bread and alcohol. Finish is alcohol. This beer is really understated. A lot of subtleties in this one. The alcohol is really the only aspect that makes itself obvious. A pretty good dubbel.
