It has strong aroma and tatse. A notch below R10 and R8 but still a very good beer. PapaSkeetSkeet (65), , Massachusetts, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 27, 2009 Pours a nice sewage brown, cloudy as hell. White head, large at first, but with little lacing, fading off slowly. Aroma is of orange, a bit of lemon, sweet malts, acohol, toast. Taste is sweet, bready, a bit of fruity acid. After taste is of dark toast and does not linger too long but for a shadow of grainy sweetness. Very fun, not my favorite dubbel, but good and more drinkable than most. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 27, 2009 Very tasty trappist beer. Full of sediment, completely clean mouthfeel. Flavour and body could have been fuller, but still a very good beer. Apparently one of the harder to find Rochefort beers? I am very glad I tried it since it was certainly an enjoyable drink. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 23, 2009 11.2oz bottle. Really good. As with the other Rocheforts it sports a nice creamy head. Pours dark cloudy amber. Citrus, banana, yeast. Not quite as good as the 8 or the 10 yet it was the same price (at least where I purchased this one) so I’ll probably stick with the others. Had to complete the trifecta though. floydian1 (287), FNQ, Australia
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 22, 2009 33cl bottle. Pours murky brown with a substantial tan head that dissipated quickly. Aromas of creamy toffee malts, orange peel, burnt sugar and subtle cherries. It has a light body for the ABV with flavours of caramel malts and dark fruits finishing with mild warming spicy hops and alcohol. Very smooth and drinkable. One of the best Dubbels I have tasted. I actually prefer this to the 8 for some reason. Haven’t tried the 10 yet though. Nordcore (290), North of, Norway
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 18, 2009 Bottle 33 cl. Apperance; brown and a little reddish, hazy with a nice offwhite head. Aroma; very fresh and fruity. some sence of citrus. Flavor; again, very fruity, lots of sparkling in my mouth, and again a small sence of citrus. Nice and fresh bitter aftertaste. andri (4), Denmark does not count | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 18, 2009 Rich malty aroma with lots of toffee and complex fruity esters. Ruby-brown in color, nice off-white head. Flavor matches the aroma. Doesn’t have the alcohol presence or spiciness of the stronger versions. Medium body, high carbonation but smooth. A very satisfying beer.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Jun 17, 2009 My first premium Belgian ale, so I’m not sure what to compare it to. Pours dirty brown with very little head. Pleasant amount of carbonation. Fruit aroma in there...banana? Good beer.
