Lots of flaky debris falling off from the head through the brew after the pour. Sweet, maple-apple aroma, not too strong. Strong carbonated sweetness at the start, but fades quickly. Another sip shows some bitterness and a shot at being somewhat sour cherry flavored. It does fall a bit short in terms of body and mouthfeel. Just okay in my book, for the class and style of beer. mpersinger (183), , California, USA

Like Rochefort 10, so I figured I’d try their Dubbel (after liking Chimay Red, another trappist dubeel quite a bit). Pours a dark hazy brownish copper color with a high offwhite head that dissipates quickly enough. Smell reminds me so strongly of Rochefort 10, but is of caramel, raisins, dried fruit, and red grapes. Tastes reminds me of a red wine, but with a sweet raisin-like flavor to it. Very interesting, especially the bite it has (which is neither alcohol nor hops), but I think I like Chimay Red more. jfb (416), Weihenstephan, Germany
