Although I can’t honestly say I know why I’ve never rated this, I fixed this oversite this weekend and the bottle I had was outstanding. A sweet, brown sugar-like aroma with some fruity overtones, spicy, yeasty and a good dose of caramel. Lively on the tongue, this one will definitely wake up some slumbering tastebuds if they aren’t ready. Flavor has an amazing complexity and range of flavors. Sweet, spicy, nutty, and fruity all play a nice role with this beer. Nothing really trumps the other, just a smooth ride from start to finish. Highly recommended.

Bottle. Pours with a huge head, off-white in color. Good lacing and nice brown color. Aromas of molasses, brown sugar, spices, and some fruits (possibly banana). Lively carbonation with a nice slick, oily texture. Flavor is perfect. Overall one of the best beers I have tasted and I just wish it was easier to get this more often.

11.2 oz bottle, pours a beautiful, nutty brown color, tannish head. I let this one warm up a bit after the pour. Nicely spiced, with hints of molasses, plumbs, carmel, some dark cherry, raspberries, great malt flavor. I definitely think that this beer gets better as it warms up - the complexities really shine through. Comparisons to the 10 are unfair - one should compare this to other dubbels only. In this context, there are few (if any) that are better.

Pours dark amber with a thick tan head disappearing quickly though. Spicy and sweet aroma. A powerful flavor of spices, thick caramel and ginger boosted with high carbonation. Lots of yeast in the bottle. Mediumbodied and eventually a bit thin mouthfeel.

Hazy, dark amber with a thick off-white head. Fruity and spicy notes. Malt, hops and bitterness with high carbonation. Medium to full body with a dry finish.

Bottle. Redbrown color with a big foamy head which dies pretty fast. Not as dark as the 8 and 10. Aroma is quite god with spices, some yeast, but not particualry overwhelming. Flavour is malty, sweet, spicy, fruity, a bit nutty, finishing with some alcohol notes. It’s good, but compared to it’s brother not that overwhelming. It’s a bit thin and watery in the palate, I can’t stop compare it to the other full-bodied and filling Rocheforts. This is just an OK beer.

Bottle, 33cl - Red brown colored beer with a large dense head. The aroma is malty with strong notes of banana esters and raspberries. Possibly some strawberries as well. Flavor is slightly malty with a soft sourish touch to it. Hints of fruits, and especially from raspberries are apparent, as well as hints of yeast and American licorice. Not a typical dubbel, in a good sense!

Red brown in color sort of clear decent beige colored head. Smell is sweet, dried fruits, raisans, and caramel. Taste is raisans, fruits, sweet. Decent carbonation and ok complexity.
