11.2 oz. bottle shared by Andy in St. Louis, bought at Wine and Cheese Place there. Pours a cloudy golden brown color with a small off-white head that leaves a film after quickly dissipating. Aroma of caramel, raisin, butter, meat, mixed sweet fruits (especially cherry), Belgian yeast. Complex, well-balanced flavor of caramel, bread, yeast, sweet malts, raisin, cherry, toast, vanilla, and subtle alcohol. Medium body and carbonation. I will be interested to try this along with the 8 and 10 as a comparison.

Bottled. Aroma is fruity and alcohol also sweet with maltier backbone as beer warms. Specifically Granny Smith apple tart smell with a very yeasty feel also and the beer is very carbonated and alive. Dangerously drinkable, with flavor notes of citrus, lots of tangier fruit, and a light spice comes through in end although i cant put my finger on it. Light to medium body with clean mouthful. This beer might actually "justify the ways of God to men." ~J. Milton

Pours a burned, orangy-brown with a light, fizzy, off-white head and some lacing and lots of yeast sediment from the 11.2oz. bottle into a snifter: Nose of citrus (notably lemon), yeast, caramel, cinnamon, and a little alcohol. Tastes of grain, lemons, yeast, sweet malts, ground cardamon spice, and some fruit all with a hoppy finish. Medium bodied. Drinkabliity: A lively session ale. Rebuy: Sure. #229 on 29112009, DG.

Bottle best by 11/3/09, I purchased this at Steves 4 years ago. Strong aroma of leather, raisins and toffee and a hint of chocolate. Dark amber, no cloudiness, sparkling carbonation and a thin, but persistent off-white head. Sweet taste of caramel, leather, subtle dried fruit and a dusty old tootsie roll, if tootsie rolls tasted good when they were old. Noticeable alcohol in the finish. Medium in body with a slick texture, very lively carbonation and a long, drying finish.

A brown sugar aroma followed by a bit of sour. A brown pour with tight fluffy tan head and lace. A sweet brown sugar flavor very caramelly. Medium bodied with good carbonation for the style. Just the hint of sour on the aroma kept me from scoring this one a tad higher. No sour in the flavor at all. Pretty tasty.

Muddy brown, very carbonated, sediment formation. Aroma is heavily chocolate. Taste is incredibly complex and hits in waves. I can pick out some chocolate in the finish, very little hop presence, lots of carbonated fizz (too much for my liking, almost soda like), smoky, yeast. Dry finish. Uniquely good.

33cl bottle from Bieropholie import service. Mainly sweet and spicy aroma. Complex taste, fruity, sweet, slightly spicy (gingerbread, cinnamon), tabacco, wood, but with a medium-low intensity leafy hopping. Not overwhelming but very interesting and most enjoyable.
