| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 10, 2008 Appearance: chestnut-brown coloured. Big head, rocky, ivory color, with good retention and adherence to glass.
Aroma: marvel and complex fruity aroma of oranges, red apples, peaches, mango, raisins and strawberries. Toffee, vanilla, butter-cookies and tart aromatic reminiscences. Fresh yeast smells. Intensive floral-hoppy aroma with ruta, cedar and daisy notes.
Flavor: nice complexity, light-sweet start from crystal malts. Notes of candy, toffee, candy-fruits, oranges, apples, mango, papayas, dried-peaches and blond-raisins. Progress of banana and sponge cake from yeast. The variety of flavors continues with touches of red-tea, fruits-tea, chamomile and cedar.
Palate: medium body, texture semi-rough and medium carbonation.
Remark: multidimensional beer, fruity and very aromatic hoppiness, a perfume. Masterly dubbel.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 9, 2008 330 ml dates L21 02 12, so this is a year and a half old. Poured into goblet dark brown and not entirely opaque. Mouthfeel isn’t full but does coat the tongue. Good amount of fizz, but feels tight. Malty of course, some dark fruits, raisins, toffee. Not too sweet. But not nearly as rich as R8, IMO. namzad (5), , Saskatchewan, Canada does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Aug 7, 2008 Updated: Aug 10, 2008Found this gem sitting all by itself, never heard of it before. Pours a rusty brown with a nice head that laces for quite awhile. I could tell, looking through the bottle that it was hazy and became evident in the pour. Lots of sediment. A great bouquet here.. a sweet yeasty smell with chocolate and fruit notes. Leaves nothing to be desired in the mouth feel; rich and full bodied. Not a big fan of the higher ABV beers, but this one was balanced perfectly. DarkBeer (47), Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Aug 6, 2008 Pours dark brown and reddish, small frothy head that doesn’t last long but laces nicely. A bit bready (which I like) with hints of raisin and other fruits. Fruit notes in the aroma, too. Feels very full in the mouth, if that makes sense. Lovely beer. hiphop (84), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 4, 2008 Brownish/reddish pour with decent sized head. Lots of flavors here, noticed cherry, plum, raisin the most with some toffe/chocolate. Very full carbonation throughout the beer and nice lacing. An excellent abbey dubbel, highly recommended. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | Jul 28, 2008 bottle. Pours a hazy dark brown with a half inch of foamy, wavy head that clears to leave a nice ring of lace and a thin layer of foam. Aromas of sweet bready grains and dark fruits- raisins, plums. Flavor shows a lot of notes that blend very well. Starts with some light floral bitter notes and some sharp yeasty spice. A bunch of fruit notes follow- more of the raisins from the aroma, with some lighter sweeter fruits like apricots and peaches. Smooth bready sweetness hangs around throughout. Palate is thick and full, a bit on the sticky side but not enough to significantly harm the beer. Overall, a solid dubbel, very enjoyable brew. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA

Huge light brown head that dissipates rather quickly. Flavor is complex, fruity, refreshing. Finish is balanced and well controlled. Overall, a delightful ale. BoBoChamp (1361), Gent, Belgium
