If it was corked, it would have blown it off. Fizzy off white head. Nose of sour yeast, some sweet malts, and alcohol soaked cherries. Mellow taste with a weird almost savory flavor and fruit. A little bit of bitterness. Biggest complaint was that there was no body to this at all. An interesting beer. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Jan 29, 2008 Bottle courtesy/split with Naka. Pours murky brown with an amber hue, lots of floaters and sinkers. Small beige head, foamy and thin, good lacing. Sweet noste w/ some funk/sour, alcohol and cherries. Body is thin and watery, lots of carb with some caramel and raisins. Mild bitterness with the extremely dry finish, some cherry and pum, maybe a touch of coffee. End and finish are dry and bitter, with alcohol lingering into the after with some dry maltiness, caramel and toffee. smith4498 (921), Miami, Florida, USA

Another excellent beer from this brewery. Similar to the 8 but not quite as flavorful. Dubbels aren’t my favorite but this one is great. sirpsycho (352), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of raisin, banana, fig and apricot. Flavor is more of the same, sweet with raisin and apricot showing through and a touch of malt. I thoroughly enjoyed this, looking forward to rating it’s two older brothers, 8 & 10 that I have been aging for the same amount of time. Tiboron (13), Florida, USA

Lots of flavors here, noticed cherry, plum, raisin the most with some toffe/chocolate. Very full carbonation throughout the beer and nice lacing. An excellent abbey dubbel, highly recommended. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 25, 2008 Bottle - aged six months: Deep brown pour with cherry highlights and a fantastic cap that doesn’t fade. A sharp cherry acidity meets the nose, followed by a rush of plum and raisin, toffee and dark chocolate. The body is sweet and well rounded, the sugary malts playing off the abundant fruity esthers. Lots of caramelized sugar, rummy raisin, doughy sweet bread and cinnamon roll. Cherry, apple and pear add dimension and make this one of the best dubbels I’ve had. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 25, 2008 Bottle. Poured a very dark cloudy brown, with a two finger head. Nose is typical Belgian Ale, with a lingering musty hint. Tastes of toasted malt, with fruit notes, very good, no noticeable alcohol flavor.
