Brougogne brumeuse, petit collet persistant. Arome de malte très caramelisé, légèrement épicé et fruité. Goût très doux et très peu impossant de malte, avec une petite touche de caramel et d’alcool. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 25, 2007 My least favorite of the Rocheforts but still a great beer. The same recipe is used for all three but the lower abv lessens the taste a bit by losing the warmth and roasted maltiness. ilovedarkbeer (1369), Dallas, Texas, USA

Smells like dates and vinegar. Mouth feel is very velvety and has a bite of a bite on the swallow. Tastes like sour vinegar fruit and dark spicy fruit. A very respectable dubble. onlyrocknroll (220), Cork, Ireland

Perhaps unfair but I find it unavoidable. Dark red/brown, hazy but still slightly transparent. Sweet fruity aroma. The flavour is dominated by the raisiny-berry quality of the other two Rocheforts, but sadly lacks their toasted flavours, spiciness and alcoholic warmth. The body is also surprisingly thin for a Trappist. A nice beer, but I can’t see the point, if I want complexity and subtlety I’ll choose Rochefort 8 or 10, if I want an everyday beer I won’t choose one at 7.5% abv rodneykm (109), Westminster, South Carolina, USA
