| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 5, 2009 Bottle, gifted by a friend. Pours to a very hazy, nut color brown with a healthy beige head. Nose is prune, raisin and classic trappist yeasty notes. This has a beautifully complex flavor profile, but feels slightly masked by too much carbonation. Dried fruits are at the forefront of this one, while fruity esters provide a backbone. This is fairly mild bodied for it’s style and makes it dangerously quaffable. I should like to drink this one again some day. Macadem (103), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 4, 2009 Smells of cherries, strawberries, blackberry and apricot. Pours amber with a bubbly head that disapears quite rapidly. Taste is nothing compared to the nose, literally. Strawberry, raspberry and other red fruit as well as potato oddly enough, though they are very subtle. Although the taste is lacking, its not a bad one. A decent abbey beer. Slipstream (785), USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Sep 2, 2009 Talkative head on a fairly standard brown pour. Aroma is floral and malty, with some unusual scents floating around the edges, such as a whiff of cheese and a little chocolate. The taste is dry for a Belgian dubbel, but still malty, with a strong dose of caramel and some apple-like esters. The mouthfeel is fizzy, with a palate-clearing finish. RT6 is not as rich as its oldest brother, but it is an unusually perky and very enjoyable Belgian ale. thirdeye11 (558), Texas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 30, 2009 ( 330ml bottle) The one thing the trappists always get right is how the beer looks. Pours a murky orange-brown with huge head. Nose of orange, chocolate, light hops and gingerbread. The taste is chocolaty, spicy, fruity, and tons of yeast character as well. A delicious beer.
I should note we drank a 1 year old and 5 year old side-by-side and age doesn’t do this beer any favors. Drink it fresh. dimenhetfield (210), , Florida, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Aug 28, 2009 Has a great appearance when poured, smooth and clean, white foam head. Not too heavy for 7.5 ABV. This will definitly prepare me for the 8 and 10. Will definilty get this one again. fidelis83 (729), Clinton, Iowa, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 28, 2009 Pours murky darkish brown around hundreds of tiny yeast specs, with a tall, chunky, tan head that has great retention and some yeast floaties. Aroma is lots of caramel, toasted malt, a little roast, citrus, sweet red apple, the caramel become "creamier" the longer I snif away, peppery and fruity yeast, sweet bread spice and sweet wheat bread. Flavor is caramel, toasted white bread, dark fruit, caramel apple, sweet bread spice, light berry notes, some soapiness to the finish. Palate is medium to light bodied, moderately carbonated and somewhat dry throughout. I liked this brew, I found it to be kind of strange though. thechandler (271), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 23, 2009 Appearance is a dark amber-caramel. Flavor is sweet and delicious. Fruity notes, plums and blackcurrants. Similar to the Rochefort 10, but lighter and more mellow. Solid. Sonicdescent (382), Donora, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Aug 23, 2009 Pours a nice dark golden color with thin tan head.
Smells of a good Belgian with hints of fruit and that trademark Belgian biscuit scent.
Taste is not what I expected, orange peel and lemon zesty. Not much hop character or alcohol.
Mouth is medium bodies with high carbonation and a Dry finish.
Dinkability is sufficient, though I much prefer the other rocheforts.
