JorisPPattyn (4282), Antwerpen, Belgium Jun 7, 2003 Amber-foxy colour, slight haze. Yellow head, nearly immediately gone. Biscuit nose, banana, hint of hops. Taste: liqueur, like a brandy-bsed liqueur. Sweetish -banana again, and , yes, P. Crombecq convinced me, pears. Rather light-bodied. Strange combination of light body, brown sugar- dryness, and perfumed, already oxidized taste, hinting at better things to follow.
MuttyD (67), Cambridge, USA Sep 5, 2008 Took me awhile to finally try this one considering the 10 is one of my favorites. This beer pours a murky brown/red color with a thin white head. Floraly and fruity (apples and pears) aroma and flavor. Very smooth on the palate and extremely drinkable. Clean and lingering finish. Great beer! Schultsc (407), Henderson, Nevada, USA Sep 3, 2008 Light chestnut with golden highlights and a thin, off-white head. Odd, though not unpleasant Tequila-like edge (strange, yes, but it’s there in this bottle) with some nutty malt characteristics and a touch of alcohol. Interesting fermentation characteristics in the flavor that seems to impart a salty tang over a light, nutty malt profile. The body is very light, thin, and almost watery--though not negatively so--the 7.5% alcohol is hardly noticible which is quite a disappearing act. This beer is not really my thing but remains quite interesting nonetheless. Straling (20), Amstenrade, Netherlands Sep 1, 2008 Bottle 33cl.
Poured at 13 degrees Celsius.
Aged 2 years.
Pours a light clear brown/red colour.
Beautiful head, good size and lasts.
Smells gives away loads of fruits, varying from strawberrys to lemon.
Very mouthfilling beer, good taste, can find all the fruits that are in the smell again.
Also this beer is balanced excellent, tastes like the 8 and 10 Rochefort, but just a little less flavour to it.
Though I must say that I can taste the alcohol more than in the other 2. mattmc1973 (112), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Aug 31, 2008 33cl bottle, pours apple cider brown, with dissipating off-white head. Aroma of apple, pear, flowers, caramel, and malt. Taste is fruity and malty, with minimal hops. Creamy mouthfeel. Not quite Rochefort 8 or 10, but a very good beer. BeerBunker (46), Burbank, Illinois, USA Aug 30, 2008 Pours fecal brown with minimal head. Smells strongly of assorted fruits and malts. Very sweet taste, well balanced with good carbonation. Delicious lingering yeast and malts. Very easy to drink, but could use more of an alcohol punch.
