Palate is mediumbodied. Pleasent and quite long round sweet and in the same way hot aftertaste. dirt55 (150), Washington, USA May 22, 2009 bottled, clear dark amber brown with medium tan head with a LOT of yeast sediment, aroma of raisins, sweet malt, brown sugar, sweet caramel flavor with alcohol notes that aren’t overpowering, heavily carbonated with residual fruit on palate, better when it warms, oddly very mellow cexshun (57), Portage, Indiana, USA May 19, 2009 Pours a dark, nutty brown. Thick white head that QUICKLY dissipates until gone. Not lacing at all. Aroma strong of apples and yeast. Flavor has an instant flavor of hard apple cider. Slightly sour. Prickly/sparkly on the tongue. Very carbonated, almost like a soda pop. Body is a little light and I don’t really dig the carbonation. Not really my thing. JanEric (167), Meppel, Netherlands May 19, 2009 Bottle. Pours out with a creamy, almost cremecoloured head. Aromas of coffee, roasted malt and caramel. Drak-coloured. Tastes like roasted malt, some kind of nuts, intense. Finish is diminishing a little bit quickly. Hank1980 (734), Athens, Georgia, USA May 16, 2009 Pours clear dark amber brown, with a good amout of carbonation. Aroma of dark fruit, sugary malt, light spice. Taste is similar with the sweet malt being the main flavor, followed by fruit, and light toffee. Mouth is lively and medium bodied. Overall, an interesting and very drinkable brew. Bosskie (106), Netherlands May 16, 2009 Updated: Jun 22, 2009Bottle from Bert’s bierhuis, Utrecht NL. Beautiful dark-brown colour. Very dark with a lively head. Well carbonated.
Aroma of chocolate with strawberry-green banana mix overtones. Or is it peaches? Apples too? :-)
Bitter-sour in fine balance with the sweetness. Dark milk chocolate palate with a very subtle bitterness. The hint of alcohol reminds me of bonbons. Nice beer - the aftertaste is the best: it’s like you really just had a piece of chocolate. RockStrombo (9), livorno, Italy does not count May 15, 2009 Dark coffee, pours beautifully, wonderfully complex flavor. not as good as rochefort 10 but still excellent NDbeerdrinker (164), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA May 11, 2009 Pours dark brown with a tan head.
