Appearance - deep dark color with alot of freaking head geez.
Typical for belgiums I guess.
Nose. Well excatly what you expect from a very good belgium dark ale. Reminds me of westy 12 and abt 12 on the nose/
The mouthfeel is of spice and plums and raisin. Very freaking smooth
Drinkabilty this is a beer that could hurt someone very easily.
Belgiums are not my favorite style and I could only do one of these but from an abstract review this is a very good beer if you like the typical belgium strong ales.

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 25, 2009 Wonderfully pungent aroma, hints of pepper and tobacco with fruit backtones, thick off brown color with thin white head. Full of flavor and alcohol is apparent, with dark fruit flavors and a thick chewy texture. Must try! cmonster (75), Portland, Oregon, USA

Pours a cloudy, sediment-ridden, dark brown with a large bubbly off-white head. Aroma is figs, prunes, and bread. Gains complexity as it warms. Medium-full body. Flavor has prunes, malts, and brown sugar. Finish of dark fruits lightly seasoned in whiskey. xs2500 (90), Mississippi, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 18, 2009 330ml bottle into tulip glass. A dark brown opaque ale with a medium-sized diminishing beige head. Nose of burnt sugar, dark fruits and spicy hops. Full bodied with tastes of fruity sugary malts with a hint of liquorice and a satisfying bittersweet dry hop finish. It is not as sweet as the aromas would suggest. Smooth on the palate with a seductive drinkability. Nice. Jonte (815), Gothenburg, Sweden
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 17, 2009 Bottle. Cloudy brown colour with an off-white head. Aroma: Malt, berries, apples/pears, caramel, almonds, alcohol, a hint of phenols. Taste: Malty, but with a rather light body, berries, lightly roasted, mild coffee, almonds, caramel, apples/pears, salmiac, brown sugar, lightly medicinal. Lively carbonation. Complex, and not a bad beer at all, but it really doesn’t do it for me. Westvleteren 8 is much better. judasbeer (240), Budapest, Hungary
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 9, 2009 Reddish brown hazy amber color, with frothy off-white head. The aroma is reminiscent of Rochefort 10. Black currant, blueberry tartness with moderate sweet cheese feel. The flavor is somewhere between the two other brews form the abbey. Grapes, berries, sugar candy flavors. Coriander, liquorice and slight alcoholic warming feel in the finale. More dense texture than the Rochefort 6. Adam77 (407), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA
