CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Nov 19, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Yup. Darkness – fruits. Plums, prunes, yums, and awesomeness. Apples, apricot, honey maybe? Complex and badass. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Nov 15, 2008 bottle thanks to bhops. deep brown pour with a nice cream head. nice nose of malts, grapes, syrup and chocolate. quite easy on the palate with a fruity, malty flavor and a highly carbonated finish. Stefano (1322), Esbjerg, Denmark Nov 3, 2008 Pours a hazy dark brown color with a nice active tan head. Aroma of malts and fruits. The flavour is sweet, malt, apple, yeast and raisin. gotohelunc (473), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Nov 2, 2008 Bottle. Cloudy dark maroon color with a forever lasting big white head. Overwhelming nose of raisins, plums, yeast, and black licorice. There’s far less flavor than aroma as it comes across delightfully smooth and sharp with a hot finish. Not the biggest flavor for a Belgian strong, but a delicious one with a warming, sticky finish. Archibaldo de la Cruz (394), Finland Nov 2, 2008 Bottle, BB 09.07.13. Dark brown colour with a foamy, lasting tan head. Aroma of malts and fruits. The flavour is sweet, malt, apple, yeast and raisin. Very smooth and well-balanced. Alcohol is hidden well, but has still a nice warming aftertaste. Medium-bodied and not much bitterness. Very tasty and complex brew. rustychiles (1007), Mesa, Arizona, USA Nov 1, 2008 Pours a hazy dark brown color with a nice active tan head. Aroma is candi-sugar, belgian yeast, bread, rasins, dark fruits. Flavor is molasses, vanilla, yeast, fruit, rasins, caramel, spices. Lots going on in this beer, it’s hard to pinpoint everything. Outstanding. timsilvia32 (445), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Oct 29, 2008 Very cloud orange/brown pour. Aromas of varied malts, fruit, slight alcohol. Rather yeasty, but not in a bad way. Malt, raisin, bread flavors, solid medium body. Very clean finishing. I really don’t care for very many Belgians, mainly because I find them WAY overcarbonated and closer to champaigne than beer. This one however, was excellent and closer to an old ale style. Though I do prefer the 10. danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Oct 29, 2008 Getting notebook online. Bottle. Lots of yeast, fruit, and spice flavors. Very warming mouth.
