R8 is foggy reddish brown with a beautiful really great light beige creamy head. Strong sweet aroma of spices, fruits and raisins. Malty, fruity, salty, liquoricy taste. Smooth soft and balanced body. Alcohol is totally hidden.

Rating #100!!! 330mL bottle from regional wines. Pours a dark deep ruby with a fizzy tan head. A strong nose on this one, dominant raisiny fruity aromas, not unlike a barley wine, theres some spice buried under the fruit; probably cinnamon, a bit yeasty smelling too. Sweet fruity raisin flavours drenched in caramel and roasted malt dominate the flavour. This sweetness is balanced perfectly by a light hop bitterness. The caramel and malt sits on your tongue for some time after, begging for another sip of this extraordinary beer. I almost don’t believe the ABV of 9.2% as I don’t detect any flavour of alcohol at all. A simply amazing beer, well deserving of it’s 33rd placing in the Ratebeer top 100!

Bottle best by date is 3.23.2010. Hazy light brown with a frothy tan head. Estery aromas of grape juice, cherry. Light/medium body. Relatively weak flavors of rootbeer spice with earthy caramel and sweet rye bread. Nice flavor just not enough of it.

(bottle) pours a dark ruby-brown colour with a huge frothy tanned head, nice lacing. aroma has dominant perfumed hop spices, along with notes of dried figs, cinnamon, clove, caramel and toffee, chocolate and hazelnut. flavour is strong caramelized malts, hop spices, figs and dates, chocolate, sweet spices and light alcohol, as it warms also some cassis. amazingly light body with smooth carbonation and a lightly alcoholic, dry finish. gorgeous stuff!

Almost as good as the 10, brighter and more lively with an amazing aroma of bananas and complex malt layers. Often a very fizzy, slightly agressive body but with a unique mind blowing finish. Bright and at the same time complex with loads of character. The beer that converted me to.. beer.

bottle thanks to DrHomolka. Pours a dark brown with a large tan head which produced good lacing. The nose on this was funky. Smelled like dirty socks. Not sure if this is supposed to be this way or this has gone bad. Yucky smell. Taste was not much better, but at least drinkable. It tasted funky and hard to pinpoint. Mouthfeel was medium with lots of carbonation and some alcohol warmth. Will try another to re-rate in the near future.
