| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 25, 2008 330 mL bottle. Pours red brown with a small white head. Aromas of dark fruits, caramel, hint of alcohol. Flavor is a combination of caramel and dark fruit with touches of black licorice, bread, hops, and apple. Raisin finish. Excellent flavor profile, very enjoyable. A little better than my recollection of Rochefort 10. Dastrn (115), Warsaw, Indiana, USA

Smelled of brown sugar, rice, and smoke, with a hint of banana. The taste was dominated my burnt chocolate and a bit of malt. The mouthfeel was a little more fizzy than I expected, but it worked.
Overall a decent strong ale, but can’t stand up to #10, or a handful of better strong ales I’ve had recently. jstraw (755), Chicago, Illinois, USA

This is dark and not as sweet as I thought it would be...more of a dark chocolate burnt carmel flavor. This is a very nice beer I would not mind having more of. Re-rate, just brought a case home and I’m loving this and it’s awesome complex finish. So much going on with some dark fruit and dark sugary flavors. Nice beer!!! | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Aug 20, 2008 An amazing beer. Great color with light lacing. Smells great with low hop aroma. Warms you up nicely but not as much as the 10. Well worth drinking if you can’t get the 10 or are looking for something lighter. dwaggs2 (534), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 19, 2008 Bottle. Much like the description says. It is almost identical to the Rochefort 10. Smells of fig and plum, maybe some apple. Very well balanced beer. Better then the 6 weaker then the 10. Still a great beer and a must try.
