Jul 30, 2008 Cloudy chestnut brown color. Aroma of cocoa powder, toasted nuts and dark fruits. Toasty and chocolaty malts accompanied by light yeast esters and hints of cherries in the finish. Lively carbonation and some nuts in the finish.

Jul 30, 2008 Light chocolate brown pour and a soft brown/tan foamy head. Aroma is a deep dry fruit with just a touch of sweetness wafting in as well. Was just a bit watery on the front of the palate. Mild fruity flavors (consistent with plum or raisin, but not overbearingly fruity) and a sweet malt flavor. Very clean finish. Excellent beer. The 10 is better, but the 8 is also an exceptional beer.

Jul 29, 2008 Pours a ruby-tinted brown. Smells of mottled berries with cocoa. Lots of malts in the taste accompanied by chocolate, along with lighter fruit accents. Definitely some alcohol hints, which just had to it’s complex character.

Jul 29, 2008 Bottle BB 05/09/12. Pours hazy brown-amber with thick lasting head. Very nice big aroma of flowers, fruit and bread. Slightly woody and nutty, roses, lilies, strawberry. Burnt sugar, soapy perfume. Very nice!
Flavor is medium big with high carbonation and malty, fruity sweetness. Chocolate, hazelnuts, strawberry and warming alcohol. A hint of pineapple. Finally some bitterness from alcohol and yeast. This is simply put a very great beer.

Jul 26, 2008 Cloudy with a slightly off red color. Head is tan, large, and it lingers. Carmel enhances the sweet flavor with a strong alcohol presence. Sweet maltiness in the aroma as well.

Jul 21, 2008 Strong fruity yeast aroma. Dark amber color with a large tan head. Light beginning with a fruit malty and lightly bitter middle finish. Palate is slightly creamy but light for the alcohol.

Jul 19, 2008 [#200] Did the Rochefort 10 for number 100 so this seemed fitting for 200. Pours opaque brown with a thick off-white head. Very bready, yeasty, malty aroma. None of the fruit I was expecting. Very creamy and smoothe on the palate. Flavor is more of that bread and malt with a bit of a hay component. I can see why people love this, but for my palate it just doesnt blow me away. It is a pretty young bottle though.
