TeamTrappist (365), jericho, New York, USA Apr 6, 2008 11.2 oz bottle. My written description is probably unworthy of this great beer, but here goes.It poured a mahogany brown, with no head. I noticed hints of fruit, belgian hops, and a bit of alcohol in the nose. What I tasted was a delicious blend of caramel, fruit, and hops that is marvelously carbonated. It ends with a delicious smooth sweet finish. This is a great beer, and definitely one of my favorites. BonVoeux (40), Beveren-Leie, Belgium Apr 6, 2008 Very good trappist !
From bottled 330 ml. Yesterday @ the Anker, Zele.
Dark fruits aroma, bit caramel, spice, yeast, sweet. Flavour spices, complex, and sweet.
Fantatastic good.
unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Apr 5, 2008 Bottled. Pours rich dark mahogany color with a tan head that overflowed the glass and hardly shrunk in the couple minutes it took to clean up my desk. Many floaties. Rich, roasted malt aroma with a very pronounced yeastiness. This is another beer I could simply smell for an hour or so; it seems to have many different subtleties and they even seem to change around a bit. The taste is somewhat spicy, somewhat roasty, somewhat floral, somewhat nutty, somewhat minty and somewhat sweet. Very dry finish scraff (1921), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Apr 3, 2008 Deep brown, thick foamy khaki colored head (great lacing left behind). Rich caramelized plum and chocolate cherry aromas layer on soft molasses and warm golden raisin tones. Dark fruit and musty brown sugar flavors balance over hints of red licorice. Rounds outs well with nice herbal-like finish. Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation throughout. A very good brew for sipping anytime... BeerEssential (96), Massachusetts, USA Apr 2, 2008 Aroma is sweet, malty yet fresh, perhaps with a touch of vanilla. Colour is almost opaque red-brown with a thin, creamy head. Taste is slightly sweet, malty and a really clean finish. For 9.2% ABV, it’s well hidden. A gem. CaptBier (301), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Apr 1, 2008 Bottle. A dark brown beer with a good head. The aroma has fruity and chocolate notes. And the flavor is very complex with notes of fruit and chocolate. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Apr 1, 2008 (3/17/08) Bottle at Gollem in Amsterdam. Dark brown color with a medium off-white head. Aroma of malt and dark fruits. Sweet and fruity flavor with some caramel, yeast, spices and a bit of alcohol in the finish. Medium to full body. Zinister (1199), Houston, Texas, USA Mar 31, 2008 Foam Rangers tasting. Dark and dirty brown pour. Nose is a barnyard of caramel, toffee, plums and cola. Flavor is much the same, but with some nice spices.
