Goodgrief (1144), Middletown, Delaware, USA Feb 10, 2008 Freaking fantastic...better than I remembered the 10. Pour was dark brown with just beautiful pillowy head. Head was so nice that I took a break to put my daughters to bed, came back 10 min later and it was still there. Aroma just leapt out of the glass...plums, chocolate. The flavor was as rich and full as a quad, as light and crisp as a trippel. Plums, dark fruit, a touch of chocolate...yet strangely light and refreshing. Mouthfeel was thick, perfect level of carbonation. Truly great! mcox90 (618), Wilton, USA Feb 10, 2008 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a hazy deep plum color with an off white 1/2" head. Not much lacing. Flavors of dark fruits ( raisins, dates, plums ) and some dark chocolate. Some alcohol burn, especially as the brew warms. Pretty good, but I don’t see what all the hype is about. At 3.8 I felt I was being generous. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA Feb 8, 2008 12 oz bottle, served cold into a wide mouth glass (though sadly not a trappist).
Pours dark cloudy brown with a huge lasting head. Not alot of carbonation, very intense deep flavors, raisens, nuts, fruits. The finish is strong in alchol but warming and the fruit notes linger. Like a fine wine, a really good belgian strong. BigMilly8 (374), Holiday, Florida, USA Feb 8, 2008 From bottle : Pours a cloudy dark brown, with big 2 fingers of white rocky head, that has wonderful staying power. The aroma is unlike any from a Belgian Strong that i have smelled. Dark chocolate with alcohol, and a smell of wood that i cant put my finger on what it is for sure. Sweet fruits start to come out of the aroma has the beer warms a little. Taste is very mild, not much alcohol burn at all. Almost a roasted like flavor in the beginning, with dark fruits and some chocolate. The aftertaste is alcohol and chocolate. Medium body with a smooth feel in the mouth and going down. ogreface (291), Budapest, Hungary Feb 8, 2008 Sötét vörösesbarna enyhén "zavaros"színű barnás fehér habú ital. Hideg estéken szépen felmelegít! waffels (1), Leuven, Belgium does not count Feb 8, 2008 mahogany color and unclear look,
Fruit-like flavour, definetly my favourite beer in the whole world, Good taste, but not too hard, like the rochefort 10, or too soft like the rochefort 6. Alcohol percentage makes sure you don’t need to drink a lot of them.
yeasts on bottle, so experts advice to leave it for a month or 2 before opening, so the alcohol percentage rises a bit more... ajm (903), Los Angeles, California, USA Feb 7, 2008 Updated: Mar 31, 2009Talk about good! So full yet so delicate - a masterwork that many have noticed. Nice slightly fruity aromas and palate. Very gently spiced - not the harsh spices that brewers claim in order to excuse sharpness. Gives an odd illusion of a glazed meat in its full sweetness. dkachur (2318), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Feb 5, 2008 Bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Pours a mahogany color and very, very cloudy. Persistent head. Aroma of dark fruits and citrus. Tastes like a fine loaf of bread. Malty and sweet and light and effervescent. Excellent!
