The color is a dark burgundy and pretty cloudy with a light brownish head. Some slight lacing.
The smell is sweet with some yeasty aroma with a malt presence that is quite unbelievable. Some licorice flavor mixed in with some bready, grainy flavor.
The taste is sweet at first and then does punch with some really nice flavoring. Good warm hints of raisins, some other dried fruit I can’t quite place at this time.Flavor reminds me not of bread but of dough.
The feel of this beer is quite pleasing. It is light, a bit tangy but well balanced delnoche (221), Germany

Dark brown with two finger creamy lasting tan head. Aroma is musty at first, then dark fruit and hints of yeast. Flavor is roasty with notes of dark fruit, licorice, slight alcohol. Medium carbonation, smooth, medium body. Finish is moderately bitter with hints of malty sweetness and a small dose of warming alcohol. Very nice. BeerChaser0078 (315), Melbourne, Australia
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark copper with an off-white head that sticks around. Wonderfully smooth palate with flavours of toasted malt, chocolate, toast, raisins, pudding with undercurrents of port or muscat. Has a really long finish where the complexity of the flavour becomes even more apparent. A sensational beer, just like the "10", which considering the abv, is dangerously drinkable. | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 5, 2009 Bottle. Pours a mahogany brune body with a tan head. Chewy sweet chocolate malts, dark fruit plum and raisin notes. Hints of ash char and and mineral notes. Hints of spicy cinnamon caramel and vinous notes. Infinitely complex and enjoyable. My favorites range 5 to 8 years old. What a phenomenal beer. I raise this glass to the top 100. The rating is for a 2002 vintage bottle consumed in 2008. Amazing brew! dand645 (87), Bayonne, New Jersey, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 2, 2009 Poured coppery with not much head. Beer was thick with lots of interesting little floaties. Smelled citrisy/spicy. Had an effervescent feel and a fruity complex taste. Could not taste the alcohol but it did have a dry finish. Very enjoyable. MBison (548), Southern Highlands, Australia
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 2, 2009 Bottle (330ml). Poured muddy dark copper with a good sized frothy, beige head which lasted extremely well. Spicy, complex aroma with notes of wild yeast with freshly baked cinnamon bread, honey oats, allspice, caramelized dates, boiled sweets and preserved apricots. Flavor was incredible, with strong notes of black pepper with sweet wholegrain bread, almond flakes, dried mixed fruits, fermenting peaches, cinnamon with a warming superb finish. Full bodied with medium carbonation, a warming mouthfeel, and a fantastic length finish.
