Dark brown with a huge, creamy head. The first I tasted was only 4 months old baby, the aroma was crisp with notes of roses, roasted malt and alcohol. The mouthfeel was rather carbonated. The flavour had roses, roasted malt, plum, raisin, pear, nuts, a bit of cinnamon, resin and alcohol. The finish had light bitterness and alcohol. Overall impression was a bit perfumed, but nice. The next was 24½ months old and the alcohol was still present - but not nearly as much and the prickly mouth feel was gone together with the perfumed notes. Aroma: fruit (apple among others), caramel, candy sugar and roasted malt. The flavour has notes of dark fruit, plum and others, roasted malt, caramel, nuts, sweetness and a nice citrus as counterweight and towards the end a bit of licorice or dark chocolate. Rounder, more mature, and still nice, but the baby also had it charms...

Had this beer many times, this stuff just keeps amazing me. Pours very deep dark brown, like dark chocolate, with a creamy beige head. Aroma is imo the only "flaw", it could have been stronger. Subtle aroma of dark fruits, mostly malts and dark chocolate, some alcohol. Flavour is soft, malts, lots of dark chocolate, some dark fruits and a bit of alcohol. The beauty of this beer is that you don’t have to work your way through a load of sugary sweetness like with so many other dark strong ales. Soft and creamy mouthfeel, nice lingering finish, full bodied.

Well balanced and very complex taste of raisen and caramel. A little too much carbonation for my taste, but that is the style.

330 mL bottle. Pours red brown with a small white head. Aromas of dark fruits, caramel, hint of alcohol. Flavor is a combination of caramel and dark fruit with touches of black licorice, bread, hops, and apple. Raisin finish. Excellent flavor profile, very enjoyable. A little better than my recollection of Rochefort 10.

Poured a dark coffee brown with a small tan head. Smelled of brown sugar, rice, and smoke, with a hint of banana. The taste was dominated my burnt chocolate and a bit of malt. The mouthfeel was a little more fizzy than I expected, but it worked. Overall a decent strong ale, but can’t stand up to #10, or a handful of better strong ales I’ve had recently.
