Estery aromas of grape juice, cherry. Light/medium body. Relatively weak flavors of rootbeer spice with earthy caramel and sweet rye bread. Nice flavor just not enough of it. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2004 Aroma is fantastic full of grapes, dates, spices, and nuts. Flavor is very smooth with a hint of bitterness. A nice woody and dark fruit flavor. It hides the alcohol amazingly well. This is certainly the short cousin of Rocherfort 10. Overall this a nice belgian but a little light bodied and not in the league of Rochefort 10. swoopjones (1920), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Oct 28, 2004 Bottle from Stirchley Wines and Spirits, Birmingham. Spicy berry brew, with licorice and super bitter choc sourness. Strong alcohol in the mouth - piquant liqueurness. I can’t be bothered to say too much about this, cos lots of others have already said everything. This is cool, possibly my fave Rochefort. Kevin (1918), Colorado, USA

Pours a nice cloudy brown and the aroma reminds me of oak. nice creamy head that barely disapate evr so slowly. Figs and raisens with a hint alcohola and roasted malt. | 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Oct 19, 2005 From bottle at The Bier Garden, Portsmouth, VA. Deep, cloudy brown with a light brown head. Sweet caramel-fruit nose. Complex, dark fruits - fig, date, raisin all sprinkled in brown sugar. Gets even more complex as it warms in the glass, the malts and caramel come through. Silky mouthfeel leaves your mouth aching for more, as the flavors hang in your mouth, you don’t want it to end. Better, I think, just slightly, than the 10 - same beautiful flavors, no alcohol burn to interfere. Just pure beauty... Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England
