11 oz bottle pours a tall tan head with a red-brown color that I can’t see through. Aroma is fruity and licorice. Taste is dry, fruity, alcohol, grain, licorice-fairly complex. It has a nice finish. A good beer, not as much as I expected though.

bottled from bistro des bières belges: Dark and brown body with almost no carbonation. The small head doesn't last long. Complex yet light aroma of malt sweetness from chocolate and blackberries. Well-hidden alcohol in mouth, very malty. Complex in the sense I've got a hard time identifying the flavors.. what fruit was that? was that chocolate hiding in that black corner? was that toffee for a second? A fun game for a few sips which I rapidly replaced by the desire to drink it slowly while balancing and dreaming of a better world.

Rich dark brown, almost opaque appearance. Complex rich milk chocolate and sweet plum aroma. Flavor does not quite meet the expectations I had from the aroma. Semi-sweet lightly bitter body finishes with some light roastedness toward the finish. Definite warming effect on the throat, but not much noticeable alcohol flavor. I think this beer would improve with some age.

Bottle... This beer rocks!... The aroma is incredible. So many things within the nose. Malt, spice, alcohol, citris and dark fruits, dried apricot and cocoa. This hazy, dark amber ale has a large, off-white, rocky head. Excellent lacing. The flavor is complex. Malty and sweet with hints of salt, dark fruits and spices up front. Lightly bitter and pungent on the backside. Warm alcohol flavor massages the the throat and chest. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel. Lively carbonation. Long bittersweet, dry finish. Excellent Belgian ale!

dark reddish-brown colour with a big dense and creamy head, aroma of prune, chocolate, nougat and burnt almond, very malty, lot of carbonation, robust bitterness with a long malty and plumy finish - powerfull and balanced

Rerate:Great beer, deep brown colour, nose is spicy, milky, clovey, chocolatey. Slight bit of sweet at the start, but remains dry, long spicy finish and nice rich chocolate in there aswell, and not that heavy considering the ABV, very tasty beer.

Murky brown like the pelt of a purebred horse. Yellowish, dense head, collapsing in the lacey way. Nose of bananas, plums, pears. Some roasted malts and "students' oats"(=mix of hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds and raisins) Taste of bitter pear. Very velvety and yet muscled underbuild from a range of malts, roasted and pale. Retronasal amonds. Alcohol, brandy-ish and higher alcohols. Very thick, nourishing mouthfeel. Monks' beer was once called liquid bread. This is whole-meal brown bread, straight from the farmers' oven. Impressive.
