Flavours are chocolatey, fruity, spicy, and alcoholic. Nice complexity and well balanced.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 27, 2004 Nose is really strong with some plums, raisins, malt. Appearance is nice plum-like in the color, with a nice head. Looks incredible nice in a trappist glass, unfortunately mine is not a Rochefort glass, but a Westmalle, but its damn fine. The flavor is very complex, im tasting some nuts, raisins, plums and malt in the end. You can also taste the alcohol very well, which i think gives this beer character. Its rather strong carbonated, and it warms in your mouth, down the drain and in your stomach. After a few sips, you can feel the warmth hitting your cheeks. This is such a nice beer! Not my last Rochefort i can tell for sure... I send my deepest regards to the monks at Abbaye St-Remy! SuIIy (1465), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 26, 2007 Updated: Nov 13, 200733cl bottle from Systembolaget. A dark red/brown beer with a clear body and a good sized lasting head that matches the label. Streams of bubbles trail up the glass toward the surface. This is at this point in time probably the best aroma of any beer I’ve had. It’s simply amazing: raisins, cherries, grapes and yeast come leaping out at you, and then an extremely potent cotton candy/toffee aroma last till the very end. The flavor is not as complex, but is very inviting, with porty/winey character. It’s sweet, but not cloying, with very restrained bitterness. Maybe the best part is that its not to thick; a little syrupy, but overall finishes clean and easy. I would drink a few more of these if I could, which is dangerous considering the alcohol, which only makes itself known with a warming in the throat. This is an amazing beer. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 25, 2006 Bright malty nose. Ample effers, keep your mouth open or you might pop. Brown in color. Light to medium nectar. Check this out. The flavor profile was quite unique. Slightly acidic with a candied earth sweetness. Like they threw in some of the desert sand from down in Gila Bend or something. A definate candied desert dirt tropshire. I know, I’m a sick puppy. Other flavors consist of wood, tobacco, perfume. Slightly bitter with bone dry finish. Overall; Very complex with big alcohol flavor. holdenn (1443), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Hazy red brown in color, tiny particles floating around under a velvety bubbled beige head that laces all the way down. Moderately malty aroma, toasted, molasses, chocolate, flowers, grape, cherry, oak, smoke, brown sugar, and vanilla. Creamy texture, light to medium bodied. Lightly sweet, brown sugar, molasses, chocolate, strawberries, oak and too much alcohol. Not a bad beer, but for all that alcohol, I need some more malt dchmela (1443), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 19, 2007 #200!!! Pours out dark brown, cloudy, with a thick fluffy off white head. Really looks nice in the glass, like you know you are in for something good. Yeast, raisin, fig aroma, very light, not overpowering. Not as smooth as the 10, but it reveals some different flavors like coffee, roasted malt, but very subdued and subtle. Thick and yeasty, but doesn’t overwhelm the mouth. A little more of the alcohol and a warming going on, much more evident, whereas the 10 sneaks up on you. Finishes very clean, maybe a hint of fruit on the tongue. A classic.
