Bright malty nose. Ample effers, keep your mouth open or you might pop. Brown in color. Light to medium nectar. Check this out. The flavor profile was quite unique. Slightly acidic with a candied earth sweetness. Like they threw in some of the desert sand from down in Gila Bend or something. A definate candied desert dirt tropshire. I know, I’m a sick puppy. Other flavors consist of wood, tobacco, perfume. Slightly bitter with bone dry finish. Overall; Very complex with big alcohol flavor.

Starts with chocolate and caramel. Moves through some fruits (white grapes, apples, plums). A nice warm finish. Beautiful.

11.2 oz bottle sampled at "Better Know a Style: Belgian Strong Ale" Blind Tasting 07. Hazy red brown in color, tiny particles floating around under a velvety bubbled beige head that laces all the way down. Moderately malty aroma, toasted, molasses, chocolate, flowers, grape, cherry, oak, smoke, brown sugar, and vanilla. Creamy texture, light to medium bodied. Lightly sweet, brown sugar, molasses, chocolate, strawberries, oak and too much alcohol. Not a bad beer, but for all that alcohol, I need some more malt

Had this beer many times, this stuff just keeps amazing me. Pours very deep dark brown, like dark chocolate, with a creamy beige head. Aroma is imo the only "flaw", it could have been stronger. Subtle aroma of dark fruits, mostly malts and dark chocolate, some alcohol. Flavour is soft, malts, lots of dark chocolate, some dark fruits and a bit of alcohol. The beauty of this beer is that you don’t have to work your way through a load of sugary sweetness like with so many other dark strong ales. Soft and creamy mouthfeel, nice lingering finish, full bodied.

Cloudy, dark brown (I like yeast) with a thin, tan, fuzzy cover with lillypads of larger bubbles that formed from the effervescence streams. Malty, oaky grapes with tobacco, clove, strawberry, and ethanol aroma. The aroma is not dominated by woody age like in other beers of this type. The flavour is equally pleasant with an excellent balance of sweetness and bitterness: quite malty with detectible hops flavour comlimented by a woody bubblegum ester and fruit: grape, kiwi, banana. Estery and ethanolic but gentle and pleasant. Light to medium body with high carbonation and a nice finish. Awesome.

Pours an unfiltered beautiful reddish brown color with a beige creamy head. Smells of tart, chocolate, figs, raisins and vanilla. Taste is a complex combination of sweet tart, bitter chocolate, figs, banana, vanilla, and raisins. Another excellent brew made by the monks !!
