| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 4, 2005 Cloudy, dark brown (I like yeast) with a thin, tan, fuzzy cover with lillypads of larger bubbles that formed from the effervescence streams. Malty, oaky grapes with tobacco, clove, strawberry, and ethanol aroma. The aroma is not dominated by woody age like in other beers of this type. The flavour is equally pleasant with an excellent balance of sweetness and bitterness: quite malty with detectible hops flavour comlimented by a woody bubblegum ester and fruit: grape, kiwi, banana. Estery and ethanolic but gentle and pleasant. Light to medium body with high carbonation and a nice finish. Awesome. drowland (1412), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 26, 2007 330 ml bottle. Dark brown colour seemingly cloudy. Tall beige head that clings to the glass. Crisp floral and citrusy hop aroma. Could it be cascades? Hmm. High carbonation level. Sharp hop bitterness at first. Clearly lots of fusel alcohols here, but they blend in with the sweet complex sugars and the hops. Raisiny, candy sugars and plums. Finishes much like a strong gin & tonic. Very close to its stronger brother. Maybe more valuable caused by the percentage, but all in all also a worldclassbeer worth going to Belgium, on a monkcruise, with the purpose to fill the celler! iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Strong carbonation. The nose includes rich fruits (berries, plums), some dark chocolate, toffee, spices. Wonderful, outstanding mouthfeel. Again fruits, chocolate and spices (cloves) in the taste. A strong licorice presence. Powerful alcoholic finish with a lingering licorice note. Excellent. In fact, I even prefer this beer to the rochefort 10. Note November 10 2007: "Heather, eucalyptus, figs and home made caramel. Some peanuts in the finish" How I perceive the nose after several samplings: Figs, licorice and home made caramel accompanied by tarragon and pineapple. Additional comment: Strong basil notes in the finish. tytoanderso (1387), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA

Aroma of overbaked bread crust, dry wood, a leaf pile in late October, roasted nuts and alcohol. Pours ruby brown with a thin white head. Flavor of nuts, quite a bit of wood, bread crust, yeast, dry leaves and alcohol. Medium to full bodied. Creamy with lively carbonation. Meh...
