Immensely yeasty nose with caramel, fig, brown sugar, whiskey. Tasting this is a sweet glimpse of heaven...maple, almond, yeast, honey, apple, plum or raisins and quite a few unexperienced sensations. Slightly too brisk with carbonation and needley on the tongue, but its staggeringly flavorful, a beautiful brew. AgentSteve (1379), SF Bay Area, California, USA

Nose is fruity, malt, and very compex. Lacing slowly forms as the head disipates. Dried fruit, malt and a little chocolate make up the flavor, and the finish is slightly dried fruit and sweet. Very, very nice. I think I like it more than the Rochefort 10, but I guess I will have to try it again! Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 19, 2005 Pours a dark brown color with a fairly thick tan head. Aroma is as much chocolate and nuts as it is tropical fruit. Flavor reminds me of cherries, banana, and prunes with a nice roasted nut flavor. Very enjoyable beer. Not sure if it's because I really think it's as good, or because I was less experienced when I drank the other Belgian heavyweights, but this stuff is great! Dark brown appearance with very small amounts of yeasties. Delicious chocolate and caramel in the flavor along with some pears and plum. The flavor could be perhaps amplified a little but that's my only complaint. Classy mouthfeel. Nice!! Thanks to jbrus. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 31, 2008 Pours a nice deep brown with a creamy, tan head. Some floaties in there. Roasty, sweet malt nose. Some yeast, some chocolate powder, some fruit. Flavor is complex and fruity, lots of dried and dark fruits, and great belgian yeast character. Creamy, well-carbonated palate. A bit of spice in the finish. Alcohol is not detectable and its very drinkable for 9%. diabel (1372), Aarschot, Belgium

It has a very good aroma indeed, very mixed. Satisfyng flavour, little bit spicy. Very nice palate. pantanap (1369), Chicago, Illinois, USA
